{"id":128858,"date":"2019-04-23T18:23:02","date_gmt":"2019-04-23T10:23:02","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.mobileworldlive.com\/?p=242968"},"modified":"2019-04-23T18:23:02","modified_gmt":"2019-04-23T10:23:02","slug":"t-mobile-us-slams-5g-hype-warns-on-mmwave-limits","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/itteacheritfreelance.hk\/test\/wordpress\/2019\/04\/23\/t-mobile-us-slams-5g-hype-warns-on-mmwave-limits\/","title":{"rendered":"T-Mobile US slams 5G hype, warns on mmWave limits"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>        \tT-Mobile US CTO Neville Ray (pictured) launched a scathing attack on 5G claims by rivals AT&#38;T and Verizon, while warning mmWave-based networks would never reach rural America.<\/p>\n<p>In a blog on the company\u2019s website, Ray said 5G was at the \u201cheight of the hype curve\u201d with a lot of misinformation being spread.<\/p>\n<p>He pointed specifically to Verizon\u2019s 5G launch [1] earlier this month, which Ray believes contradicts claims of a first made by the operator in 2018, and AT&#38;T\u2019s announcement of network availability without supplying devices so people can use it.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThey\u2019re both obsessed with claiming first[s], but at the end of the day, it\u2019s meaningless for consumers. In both cases, claiming first was more important to them than providing a good experience,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>Despite T-Mobile talking-up its own 5G prospects [2] a number of times over the last year, Ray said its goal was not \u201cheadlines or buzz or bragging rights\u201d, adding \u201cT-Mobile is going to continue to be the adult in the room on 5G.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The operator plans to deploy 5G across several spectrum bands, which it believes will offer wider coverage than focusing on mmWave [3].
