{"id":128896,"date":"2019-04-23T18:01:25","date_gmt":"2019-04-23T10:01:25","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.mobileworldlive.com\/?p=242983"},"modified":"2019-04-23T18:01:25","modified_gmt":"2019-04-23T10:01:25","slug":"china-unicom-earmarks-may-5g-launch","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/itteacheritfreelance.hk\/test\/wordpress\/2019\/04\/23\/china-unicom-earmarks-may-5g-launch\/","title":{"rendered":"China Unicom earmarks May 5G launch"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>        \tChina Unicom targeted a launch of commercial 5G services next month, as it looks to accelerate the country\u2019s rollout and keep pace with early movers across the world.<\/p>\n<p>The company made the announcement at its Partner Conference in Shanghai, which it held alongside chip partner Qualcomm and a number of device makers.<\/p>\n<p>Qualcomm added in a statement that it is supporting the operator\u2019s 5G rollout in collaboration with device makers OnePlus, Oppo, nubia, Vivo, Xiaomi and ZTE, which will deploy products powered by its Snapdragon 855 Mobile Platform and X50 5G Modem.<\/p>\n<p>At the conference, being held this week, the companies will showcase the readiness of 5G devices and networks in the country via a number of demonstrations.<\/p>\n<p>Qiang Fu, general manager, network expansion department at China Unicom, said it was now \u201cpreparing for the arrival of the 5G era\u201d, while Qualcomm China\u2019s chairman Frank Meng said it was excited for \u201cChinese consumers to experience 5G\u2019s truly transformative wireless experience in 2019&#8243;.<\/p>\n<p>VentureBeat noted China Unicom\u2019s announcement was particularly significant, with the timeline for China\u2019s 5G rollout somewhat ambiguous at this stage.
