{"id":136843,"date":"2019-05-22T23:47:58","date_gmt":"2019-05-22T15:47:58","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.mobileworldlive.com\/?p=245567"},"modified":"2019-05-22T23:47:58","modified_gmt":"2019-05-22T15:47:58","slug":"nepal-blocks-dominant-chinese-payment-players","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/itteacheritfreelance.hk\/test\/wordpress\/2019\/05\/22\/nepal-blocks-dominant-chinese-payment-players\/","title":{"rendered":"Nepal blocks dominant Chinese payment players"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>        \tNepal slapped a ban on the use of Chinese mobile payment platforms WeChat Pay and Alipay as they had not acquired a licence to operate from the country\u2019s central bank, Reuters reported.<\/p>\n<p>The news agency said the companies had not received the required approval from Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB) to process digital payment services within the country, despite a large number of tourists from China using the transaction system at local retailers.<\/p>\n<p>A NRB representative added use of the platforms were leading to a loss of income within the country.<\/p>\n<p>The bank noted the use of unregistered non-domestic payment systems could lead to punishment. Reuters said \u201cembezzling foreign exchange\u201d can lead to a jail term in Nepal.<\/p>\n<p>Alipay, run by Ant Financial, and Tencent\u2019s WeChat Pay [1] have both been keen to outline their global ambitions [2] in recent months.
