Yeah it was kind of janky but no other game let you instantly parachute onto an island full of weapons and 99 other players until there was only one left standing. And that was enough.<\/p>\n<p>But in 2019 that\u2019s not enough anymore. Yeah <em>PUBG<\/em> is still massively successfully, but rivals like<em> Apex Legends<\/em> and <em>Fortnite<\/em> offer more polish and bigger user bases for zero cost upfront. Plus those games have a recognizable visual identity <em>PUBG<\/em> does not. The storm is closing in, but <em>PUBG<\/em> isn\u2019t giving up yet.<\/p>\n<p>Check out this new trailer for <em>PUBG<\/em> season 4 including its new story content.<\/p>\n<div class=\"flex-video widescreen embed\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/H6SKmGj_-f0?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/div>\n<p>What does a <em>PUBG<\/em> story even look like? Does this game have lore now? This trailer teases answers to those questions and more by seemingly starring the unknown player behind these battlegrounds. And it\u2019s not Brendan Greene. The narrator talks about being the sole survivor of some kind of disaster in 1965 as a child in Erangel, <em>PUBG\u2019s<\/em> original vaguely Eastern-European map. And now as an adult he\u2019s enacting revenge by making hundreds of other people battle for survival on the same island?<\/p>\n<p>When you add a story to <em>PUBG<\/em> you really just start to reveal how much this game rips off the movie <em>Battle Royale<\/em>. This is just a preview of what will happen if some bozo in Hollywood ever greenlights a <em>PUBG<\/em> movie. But it is nice to see the game try something this ambitious and, again, do anything to set itself apart from other more distinct battle royale games.<\/p>\n<p><em>PUBG<\/em> season 4 with the new story content launches July 24.
