{"id":154313,"date":"2019-08-06T17:41:21","date_gmt":"2019-08-06T09:41:21","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.geek.com\/featured\/-1798856\/"},"modified":"2019-08-06T17:41:21","modified_gmt":"2019-08-06T09:41:21","slug":"all-made-by-google-devices-to-include-recycled-material","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/itteacheritfreelance.hk\/test\/wordpress\/2019\/08\/06\/all-made-by-google-devices-to-include-recycled-material\/","title":{"rendered":"All Made by Google Devices to Include Recycled Material"},"content":{"rendered":"<figure>\n\t\t\t\t\t<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.geek.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/08\/google-Bence-BorosUnsplash-650x366.jpeg?resize=640%2C360&#038;ssl=1\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" data-recalc-dims=\"1\" \/><\/p>\n<div class=\"figcaption\">Starting in 2022, 100 percent of Made by Google products will include recycled materials (via Bence Boros\/Unsplash)<\/div>\n<\/figure>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Google this week <a href=\"https:\/\/www.blog.google\/outreach-initiatives\/sustainability\/hardware-sustainability-commitments\/\"  rel=\"noopener\">announced a new initiative<\/a> to integrate sustainability into its consumer hardware products.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The tech titan\u2014set to turn 20 in September\u2014jumped on the smart-device bandwagon just a few years ago.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">But every Pixel phone and Home Mini speaker it makes requires a lot of resources and generates even more waste.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">So Google is going green.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">&#8220;It&#8217;s an ongoing endeavor that involves designing in sustainability from the start and embedding it into the entire product development process and across our operations, all while creating the products our customers want,&#8221; Anna Meegan, head of sustainability for consumer hardware, wrote in a blog post.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The woke company on Monday outlined its efforts to be more environmentally friendly, starting with the short-term goal of making all shipments to and from customers carbon neutral by next year.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">(That&#8217;s far superior to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.geek.com\/tech\/amazon-pledges-to-make-half-its-shipments-carbon-neutral-by-2030-1775145\/\"  rel=\"noopener\">Amazon&#8217;s hope of netting 50 percent zero carbon by 2030<\/a>.)<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">And, starting in 2022, 100 percent of Made by Google products will include recycled materials, with a drive to maximize recycled content &#8220;wherever possible,&#8221; the firm announced.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Just how much of each device will comprise reclaimed parts remains unclear.
