They&#8217;re supposed to ensure a level playing field by exposing cheaters&#8230; but there are always some who figure they can beat the system.<\/p>\n<p>A quick word of advice for would-be cheats: make sure you borrow urine from someone who&#8217;s a close match. For example, no man should ever hand in a sample that tests positive for pregnancy hormones.<\/p>\n<p>D.J. Cooper <a href=\"https:\/\/www.yahoo.com\/sports\/dj-cooper-drug-test-reveals-pregnant-basketball-121023506.html\">may have missed that memo<\/a>. The former Ohio University standout was recently slapped with a 2-year ban by the International Basketball Federation (FIBA) when his drug test results revealed that he was pregnant.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">Former Ohio star DJ Cooper failed a FIBA drug test by using his pregnant girlfriend\u2019s urine <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/BkkNdqXI6D\">https:\/\/t.co\/BkkNdqXI6D<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Sports Illustrated (@SInow) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/SInow\/status\/1158402307211632643?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">August 5, 2019<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p>Cooper tested positive for human chorionic gonadotropin, or hCG. hCG is produced by the placenta and it starts as soon as a fertilized egg attaches to the uterus. You don&#8217;t need a fancy drug testing setup to find hCG in urine. A take-home pregnancy test will spot it.<\/p>\n<p>Fertilized eggs, uteri, placentas, and hCG are not generally things that are found in a human male.<\/p>\n<p>No, Cooper was not moonlighting as a research scientist who wanted to personally test a fertility drug he created. He was just bad at cheating and got the &#8216;clean&#8217; urine he provided to FIBA&#8217;s testers from his girlfriend, who apparently didn&#8217;t realize she was pregnant at the time.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-1799019\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.geek.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/08\/junior.jpg?resize=500%2C403&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"\" width=\"500\" height=\"403\" srcset=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.geek.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/08\/junior.jpg?resize=500%2C403&#038;ssl=1 500w, https:\/\/www.geek.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/08\/junior-300x242.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 500px) 100vw, 500px\" data-recalc-dims=\"1\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The cat&#8217;s definitely out of the bag at this point, what with news of the Cooper&#8217;s botched cheating attempt popping up all over the Internet.<\/p>\n<p>But maybe Cooper was never trying to beat the drug test in the first place.
