It also works with my front door.&#8221;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The technology uses electromagnetic fields to identify and track tags attached to objects\u2014like a car.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">After pre-ordering a Tesla Model 3 and learning the key card is RFID-based, Amie was inspired to copy the EV&#8217;s software onto her existing chip.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">But, thwarted by the automaker&#8217;s top-notch security, she turned to plan B: install the Tesla chip as a second bio implant.<\/span><\/p>\n<div class=\"embed\">\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"500\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Why didn\u2019t I post a video of the chip working with my car the day I got it? 1. I may have upgrades but unfortunately my body still heals at a human rate lol! <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/WKHogGKqmE\">pic.twitter.com\/WKHogGKqmE<\/a><\/p>\n<p>&mdash; Amie DD @ DEFCON (@amiedoubleD) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/amiedoubleD\/status\/1161112689495740421?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">August 13, 2019<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/div>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The process was long and often uncertain.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Once she dissolved the card&#8217;s plastic in acetone, Amie sent the microprocessor off to be encapsulated in a biopolymer that&#8217;s safe for use in the body.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">&#8220;I talked to a few doctors [who] were a little wary about doing this, because it&#8217;s kind of, you know, a questionable thing,&#8221; Amie explained.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Finally, she found a specialist in body modifications who agreed to carry out the procedure.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Not everyone was on board, though.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">&#8220;They say, &#8216;Oh, you can&#8217;t start your car with that. That&#8217;s not secure; it won&#8217;t work. It makes me want to do it more,&#8221; she explained in a video. &#8220;And not \u2026 because they say, &#8216;No, you can&#8217;t do it,&#8217; and I want to defy them. It makes me question why. Why can&#8217;t you do it that way?
