{"id":162116,"date":"2019-09-14T00:42:04","date_gmt":"2019-09-13T16:42:04","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.mobileworldlive.com\/?p=255108"},"modified":"2019-09-14T00:42:04","modified_gmt":"2019-09-13T16:42:04","slug":"us-dives-deeper-into-tech-sector-practices","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/itteacheritfreelance.hk\/test\/wordpress\/2019\/09\/14\/us-dives-deeper-into-tech-sector-practices\/","title":{"rendered":"US dives deeper into tech sector practices"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>        \tPoliticians in the US escalated an investigation into Apple, Amazon, Facebook and Google, asking the companies to hand over internal information covering a variety of competition-related matters.<\/p>\n<p>The House of Representatives\u2019 Judiciary Committee, which oversees federal courts and policing, requested the companies provide executive communications about acquisitions, advertising policies, search algorithms, and data use, as part of an\u00a0investigation begun in July [1].<\/p>\n<p>Committee member Doug Collins stated the information will help politicians evaluate whether anticompetitive activity is occurring and if laws need to be updated to &#8220;better promote competition in the digital markets&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>Under scrutiny are Facebook\u2019s purchase of Instagram, WhatsApp and analytics company Onavo; and Google\u2019s acquisitions of YouTube, and advertising services DoubleClick and AdMob.<\/p>\n<p>Apple and Google were also pressed to reveal information about their app policies, while all four companies were also asked to provide documents related to any other competition investigations against them.<\/p>\n<p>The quartet are reportedly part of a Department of Justice investigation [2];
