A “Princess Bride” remake? Inconceivable.<\/span><\/p>\n

In a recent profile on producer Norman Lear, Sony Pictures Entertainment CEO Tony Vinciquerra mentioned that pitches have been made to reboot the iconic 1987 motion picture.<\/span><\/p>\n

“We have so many people coming to us saying, ‘We want to remake this show or that show,’” Vinciquerra told<\/a> <\/span>Variety<\/span><\/i>. “Very famous people whose names I won’t use, but they want to redo ‘The Princess Bride.’<\/span><\/p>\n

“Not a month goes by when we don’t have an idea coming from some very big name wanting to do things with Norman,” he added.<\/span><\/p>\n

Best known for creating ’70s sitcoms “Sanford and Son,” “All in the Family,” “The Jeffersons,” “Good Times,” “Mary Hartman, Mary Hartman,” and “Maude,” Lear also produced the marvelous “Fried Green Tomatoes.”<\/span><\/p>\n

But his most famous work remains the big-screen adaptation of William Golding’s “The Princess Bride”\u2014the closest thing to a flawless film ever made.<\/span><\/p>\n

The swoon-worthy Westley agrees: Cary Elwes, the Dread Pirate Roberts himself, weighed in this week, paraphrasing a quote from the movie.<\/span><\/p>\n
