A bit of clever marketing can be helpful, too.<\/p>\n<p>Somewhere around the intersection of those two things you&#8217;ll find Sharp&#8217;s new phone, <a href=\"https:\/\/liliputing.com\/2019\/09\/sharp-aquos-zero2-is-the-first-phone-with-a-240-hz-display.htmlhttps:\/\/liliputing.com\/2019\/09\/sharp-aquos-zero2-is-the-first-phone-with-a-240-hz-display.html\">the Aquos zero2<\/a>. It&#8217;s an impressive piece of hardware powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 855+ processor.<\/p>\n<p>The zero2 also ships with 8GB of RAM, 256GB of storage, and a stunning 6.4 inch, 2340 x 1080 OLED display. It&#8217;s also incredibly light at just 143 grams, but that display is the star attraction.<\/p>\n<p>Why? Sharp says that it it refreshes at a jaw-dropping rate of 240Hz. That&#8217;s double the refresh rate of the Razer Phone 2&#8217;s IGZO panel and almost 2.7 faster than <a href=\"https:\/\/www.geek.com\/tech\/this-insane-gaming-phone-has-a-cooling-fan-inside-it-1784876\/\">the Nubia Red Magic 3<\/a>&#8216;s display.<\/p>\n<div class=\"flex-video widescreen embed\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/V_NJbXD8yUc?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/div>\n<p>There&#8217;s a small asterisk, however. While Sharp&#8217;s display does indeed have a 240Hz refresh rate, only every other frame contains image data. The other frames are pure black.<\/p>\n<p>Sharp says there&#8217;s a good reason for this, and it&#8217;s not just so that they can claim the fastest smartphone display on the market. According to Sharp, the black frames help \u201cto reduce after images.\u201d The video teaser gives a brief glimpse. It looks good, but it&#8217;s hard to say <em>how good<\/em> since I was watching it on my XPS 13&#8217;s 60Hz panel.<\/p>\n<p>One other question that you might want answered: how long will the zero2&#8217;s battery last while gaming? It&#8217;s only a 3130mAh unit, which doesn&#8217;t seem like a good fit for a phone with a display like this. Razer opted for a 4000mAh battery and the Red Magic 3 packs a massive 5000mAh.<\/p>\n<p>Those of you who want to get your hands on the closest thing to a phone with a 240Hz display will be able to pick one up in just a few short months.
