There’s a reason why the low price of Nintendo Switch Online makes that modest service much more acceptable than it otherwise might have been. So while price cuts are great no matter what, price cuts on subscriptions can lead to exponential savings.

That’s why we’re excited about Sony slashing the price of PlayStation Now while ramping up the game quality.

Before Google Stadia or Project xCloud, Sony got in the streaming service game with PlayStation Now. Based on tech it acquired through Gaikai, PlayStation Now lets you stream hundreds of games through the cloud. On PlayStation 4 or PC you can enjoy PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, and PlayStation 2 games. That’s a lot of video games.

And now you can access those video games for $10 per year, half of the original price and edging in on Xbox Game Pass territory. Furthermore, Sony will rotate out a selection of marquee titles for three months at a time. From now until next January PlayStation Now subscribers can play PlayStation 4 blockbusters God of War 2018, Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End, Infamous Second Son, and Grand Theft Auto V. Are there really people who don’t have Grand Theft Auto V yet?

Making PlayStation Now more affordable is great now, but it’ll be even more appealing when Sony has a brand new PlayStation console to sell you next year. In the meantime, play PlayStation games through your iPhone with Remote Play, and pour one out for the missing multiplayer modes in The Last of Us Part II.

With some many subscriptions and streaming services cropping up, naturally consumers are wary about not just paying for new things but paying for new things every month.
