{"id":165883,"date":"2019-10-03T18:47:10","date_gmt":"2019-10-03T10:47:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.geek.com\/featured\/-1806122\/"},"modified":"2019-10-03T18:47:10","modified_gmt":"2019-10-03T10:47:10","slug":"florida-man-arrested-for-tampering-with-dozens-of-e-scooters","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/itteacheritfreelance.hk\/test\/wordpress\/2019\/10\/03\/florida-man-arrested-for-tampering-with-dozens-of-e-scooters\/","title":{"rendered":"Florida Man Arrested For Tampering With Dozens of E-Scooters"},"content":{"rendered":"<figure>\n\t\t\t\t\t<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.geek.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/lime-Markus-SpiskeUnsplash-650x366.jpeg?resize=640%2C360&#038;ssl=1\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" data-recalc-dims=\"1\" \/><\/p>\n<div class=\"figcaption\">Lime scooters (via Markus Spiske\/Unsplash)<\/div>\n<\/figure>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">A 59-year-old Fort Lauderdale man accused of cutting the brake lines on more than a dozen electric rental scooters <a href=\"https:\/\/www.flpd.org\/Home\/ShowDocument?id=5939\"  rel=\"noopener\">has been arrested<\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Police caught Randall Thomas Williams red-handed on camera, apparently tampering with the brakes on a pair of scooters in a Broward County driveway.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Williams was taken into custody Sunday, and charged with prowling, resisting arrest, and a third-degree felony count of criminal mischief, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nbcmiami.com\/news\/local\/Man-Caught-on-Camera-Tampering-With-Electric-Scooters-in-Fort-Lauderdale-561884241.html\"  rel=\"noopener\">NBC Miami reported<\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Twenty scooters with severed brake lines were found this weekend near the 1200 block of East Broward Boulevard\u2014not far from Williams&#8217; home.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Police are still calculating damages he owns, which will include $70 to repair each scooter, as well as lost rent for interrupting service to riders.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">No injuries have been linked to the incidents. A corrupted scooter, which travels up to 17 mph, &#8220;could have caused great bodily harm or death,&#8221; the FLPD said.<\/span><\/p>\n<div class=\"flex-video widescreen embed\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/yCkoI0HQJ8M?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/div>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">More than 140 e-scooters have been vandalized in the city since April.
