(Photo Credit: NASA)<\/div>\n<\/figure>\n<p>NASA&#8217;s first<a href=\"https:\/\/www.geek.com\/tech\/airbus-rolls-royce-siemens-team-up-for-hybrid-electric-aircraft-1724527\/\"  rel=\"noopener\"> all-electric experimental aircraft<\/a>, also known as the X-plane, has arrived at the agency&#8217;s Armstrong Flight Research Center in Edwards, California.<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nasa.gov\/press-release\/nasa-takes-delivery-of-first-all-electric-experimental-aircraft\"  rel=\"noopener\">X-57<\/a> was delivered by Empirical Systems Aerospace (ESAero), which is based in California, on Wednesday, in the first of three configurations as an all-electric aircraft (Modification II or Mod II). <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/NASA\/status\/1179886348339175425?s=20\"  rel=\"noopener\">NASA says<\/a> researchers will use it to demo the benefits electric propulsion may have for emissions, efficiency, and noise.<\/p>\n<div class=\"flex-video widescreen embed\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/No9Rq3VE0FI?start=1&#038;feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/div>\n<p>The delivery is a major milestone for <a href=\"https:\/\/www.geek.com\/news\/nasas-juno-gets-ready-to-leap-over-jupiters-shadow-1806174\/\"  rel=\"noopener\">NASA<\/a> engineers, because they&#8217;ll be able to start putting the aircraft through ground tests, which will be followed by taxi tests and then flight tests. The X-57&#8217;s Mod II vehicle features the replacement of traditional combustion engines on a baseline\u00a0Tecnam P2006T aircraft with electric cruise motors, according to NASA.<\/p>\n<p><strong>&#8220;<\/strong>The X-57 Mod II aircraft delivery to NASA is a significant event, marking the beginning of a new phase in this exciting electric X-plane project.
