Cocktail pods from Glenlivet, on the other hand, are made to be enjoyed by humans.

Enjoyed responsibly, of course, and by adults. But yes, the nearly 200-year-old whisky maker really did put the water of life in a digestible pod. There’s no need to stir and the pods can be chilled — so there’s no melting ice to dilute your cocktail. You don’t even need a glass.

It’s all about “redefining how whisky can be enjoyed,” according to a press release from The Glenlivet. That’s what the pods look like at the top: sloshy little biodegradable bags of booze. The exterior of the pod is made from seaweed extracts and a discarded pod will decompose in about a month, according to the sustainable packaging makers at Notpla.

The “Capsule Collection” was created in partnership with London’s hip bar/eatery Tayēr + Elementary. They created the cocktails that were sealed inside the limited-run pods. They’re only be served for London Cocktail Week.

Tayēr + Elementary presents them as an amouse-bouche. That, coupled with their slightly jiggly nature, makes the pods sound an awful lot like pretentious Jell-O shots.

We shouldn’t poke too much fun at cocktail pods, though. Remember, Nick Offerman himself said there’s no wrong way to order a whisky. As Ron Swanson he painted in even broader strokes, saying “There is no wrong way to consume alcohol.”

Cocktail pods are certainly a less conspicuous way to have a quick nip while you’re out and about. Most people would probably think you’re just popping a large gummy in your mouth rather than a 23ml shot of scotch.

Personally, I’d love to see these at my liquor store in something like a holiday chocolate tin.

More on Geek.com:

45,000 Barrels of Bourbon Destroyed in Jim Bean Warehouse Fire

Japan Opens a Cocktail Bar in a Waste Dump to Promote Sustainability

Even More Kellogg’s Cereal Gets Re-Born as Craft Beer

These colorful cocktail pods aim to redefine the way people enjoy whisky.
