But <em>Fortnite<\/em> is so huge and so popular, especially among kids, that its relationship with the rest of mainstream culture is unique among games. So only a game like this (and maybe early <em>World of WarCraft<\/em>) could spark a <a href=\"http:\/\/itteacheritfreelance.hk\/index.php\" title=\"\u672c\u7db1\u9801\u63d0\u4f9b\u4e00\u500b\u65b9\u4fbf\u7684\u5e73\u53f0, \u70ba\u5927\u5bb6\u914d\u5c0d\u96fb\u8166\u88dc\u7fd2,IT freelance, \u79c1\u4eba\u8001\u5e2b , PHP\u88dc\u7fd2, HTML\u88dc\u7fd2, CSS\u88dc\u7fd2, JavaScript\u88dc\u7fd2, XML, Java\u88dc\u7fd2,Server\u88dc\u7fd2, MySQL\u88dc\u7fd2, \u4e2d\u5b78\u96fb\u8166\u79d1\u79c1\u4eba\u88dc\u7fd2, \u5728\u8077\u4eba\u58eb\u96fb\u8166\u63d0\u5347\u88dc\u7fd2,\u5c08\u696d\u8003\u8a66\u96fb\u8166 \u88dc\u7fd2,\u96fb\u8166\u5716\u50cf\u8a2d\u8a08\u96fb\u8166\u88dc\u7fd2, gra\">class<\/a>-action lawsuit claiming <em>Fortnite<\/em> is \u201cas addictive as cocaine.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>As reported by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.usatoday.com\/story\/tech\/talkingtech\/2019\/10\/07\/fortnite-producer-epic-games-lawsuit-says-addictive-as-cocaine\/3900236002\/\"  rel=\"noopener\">USA Today<\/a>, the lawsuit against Epic Games comes from Montreal law firm Calex L\u00e9gal. They\u2019re representing parents who claim their young sons became debilitatingly dependent on the battle royale shooter. They accuse the developers of preying on children with the same cynicism of tobacco companies, and similarly harming their health as a result.<\/p>\n<p>Gaming dependency has become a controversial subject of discussion after the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.geek.com\/culture\/who-adds-gaming-disorder-to-list-of-official-diseases-1788884\/\"  rel=\"noopener\">World Health Organization<\/a>\u00a0officially declared it a real thing earlier this year. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.geek.com\/games\/prince-harry-wants-fortnite-and-other-addictive-games-banned-1781568\/\"  rel=\"noopener\">Prince Harry<\/a>\u00a0himself called for Fortnite to be banned because of how addictive it could be to minors.<\/p>\n<div class=\"flex-video widescreen embed\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/rYFy-2NyNys?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/div>\n<p>Normally I would have dismissed this is typical video game fear mongering. With <em>Fortnite<\/em> making so much money, of course people want to get a piece (including <a href=\"https:\/\/www.geek.com\/games\/alfonso-carlton-ribeiro-along-with-everyone-else-sues-epic-over-fortnite-dances-1766584\/\"  rel=\"noopener\">dancers<\/a>\u00a0who do, in fact, deserve a piece). However, the lawsuit specifically mentions the psychological trap <em>Fortnite<\/em> lays out with its free-to-play loot box mechanics. Casino-style gambling tactics targeted toward kids have become so controversial that world governments are stepping in to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.geek.com\/games\/dont-just-disclose-odds-for-video-game-loot-boxes-ban-them-1799199\/\"  rel=\"noopener\">regulate<\/a>\u00a0them, a course of action I do actually strongly agree with.<\/p>\n<p>Maybe the real issue is these kids play so much <em>Fortnite<\/em> but aren\u2019t good enough to make real money. I bet the parents of the 16-year-old world champion weren\u2019t complaining when his \u201caddiction\u201d brought home <a href=\"https:\/\/www.geek.com\/games\/fortnite-world-champion-teen-made-more-money-than-all-of-us-1797918\/\"  rel=\"noopener\">millions of dollars<\/a>\u00a0(and an unfortunate swatting).
