<a href=\"https:\/\/techcrunch.com\/2019\/10\/09\/ubers-newest-feature-alerts-drivers-that-pets-will-be-joining-the-ride\"  rel=\"noopener\">according to TechCrunch<\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">And while Uber promised to pay &#8220;a significant portion&#8221; of that tax\u2014between $3 and $5\u2014to drivers (on top of their standard earnings), chauffeurs can choose to steer clear of trips with non-service animals by simply opting out of Uber Pet in the app preferences menu.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">&#8220;This new feature lets you communicate to a driver that you&#8217;ll be bringing a furried (or even scaled) friend onboard your Uber trip,&#8221; the company said, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnet.com\/news\/uber-now-lets-you-tell-your-driver-when-youre-traveling-with-a-pet\/#ftag=CAD590a51e\"  rel=\"noopener\">as reported by CNET<\/a>. &#8220;We built this feature to give riders peace of mind.&#8221;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The new travel tier does not replace the company&#8217;s <a href=\"https:\/\/accessibility.uber.com\/service-animal-policy\/\"  rel=\"noopener\">existing service animal policy<\/a>, which permits non-human helpers to accompany riders &#8220;at all times&#8221;
