It doesn\u2019t have to be a gamer. Considering how important being online is for everyday life, politicians have been looking at platforms like Twitch as a new fireside chat for connecting with constituents. If you\u2019re cool, you can connect with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.geek.com\/games\/bernie-sanders-calls-for-video-game-developer-unions-1792420\/\"  rel=\"noopener\">Bernie Sanders<\/a>\u00a0and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.geek.com\/culture\/alexandria-ocasio-cortez-drops-in-on-charity-twitch-stream-for-trans-kids-1770719\/\"  rel=\"noopener\">Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez<\/a>\u00a0on Twitch.<\/p>\n<p>And if you\u2019re not cool, well, unfortunately Donald Trump has just launched a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.twitch.tv\/donaldtrump\/\"  rel=\"noopener\">Twitch channel<\/a> of his own.<\/p>\n<p>The American president, hopefully on the verge of impeachment, debuted on the service to broadcast his most recent hate rally in Minnesota. Among his usual ramblings, Trump of course took potshots at the media. However, several other outlets have noted the irony of Twitch being owned by Amazon, a company Trump frequently butts heads with due to Jeff Bezos\u2019 control of The Washington Post. We\u2019re also not fans of Bezos by any means, but for different reasons.<\/p>\n<div class=\"flex-video widescreen embed\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/X2cQjpPYsEQ?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/div>\n<p>Thousands watched live, although many viewers were just there to troll Trump in the comments. The Twitch page now has over 50,000 followers, which is impressive but far short of the 65 million followers Trump has on Twitter. That\u2019s still his social media platform of choice for starting dumb new wars.<\/p>\n<p>One of the most dangerous parts of Trump\u2019s presidency is how he has weaponized disinformation on websites like Facebook and Twitter, Silicon Valley companies run by spineless billionaires who don\u2019t want to take responsibility for how their failure to clean up their own spaces have effectively ruined the world. Right-wing radicalization has already poisoned so much of online gamer culture.
