InHome Delivery service officially launches in Kansas City, Pittsburgh, and Vero Beach (via Walmart)<\/div>\n<\/figure>\n

I get groceries delivered to my front door (in a third-floor walkup) once every two weeks.<\/span><\/p>\n

But I don’t trust the dispatcher to cross the threshold, let alone enter my home unaccompanied and access my refrigerator.<\/span><\/p>\n

Walmart hopes that’s not the case with some 1 million customers across Florida, Kansas, Missouri, and Pennsylvania.<\/span><\/p>\n

The retail giant this week launched<\/a> its new direct-to-fridge grocery drop-off service InHome Delivery.<\/span><\/p>\n

“We’re obsessed with simplifying grocery shopping and finding ways to make our customers’ lives easier,” Bart Stein, senior vice president of Walmart membership, wrote in a blog announcement.<\/span><\/p>\n

Eligible customers in Vero Beach, Kansas City (both of them), and Pittsburgh can get started online by choosing a delivery spot\u2014kitchen or garage\u2014and purchasing a corresponding smart device for $50 (professional installation included).<\/span><\/p>\n

Moving forward, simply place an order online, choose InHome Delivery and a dispatch day, and leave the rest up to Walmart<\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n

InHome Delivery is designed to help customers save time (via Walmart)<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

The first month is free; unlimited deliveries start at $19.95 per month (with a minimum of $30 per basket). Cancel or pause the service at any time.<\/span><\/p>\n

Associates go through an “extensive” training program, preparing them to select the freshest grocery items, safely and legally access a customer’s home using smart entry technology, and\u2014most importantly\u2014organize an efficient refrigerator.<\/span><\/p>\n

Deliveries will be made by a vetted Walmart associate, who has been with a local store for at least a year. Plus, wearable cameras allow users to watch the drop-off live or as archived video later.<\/span><\/p>\n

“Bringing this service to Kansas City, Pittsburgh, and Vero Beach is just the first step for InHome Delivery,” Stein said. “And an important part of Walmart’s overall promise to leverage our unique assets to serve customers in ways that only Walmart can and innovate for the future.”<\/span><\/p>\n

The firm in April teamed up with Google to launch new voice ordering capabilities: Ask Google Assistant to “talk to Walmart” to add items directly to your virtual cart.<\/span><\/p>\n
