When I was a trick-or-treating kid, a neighborhood man with a (presumably) fake chainsaw chased me and my friends down the street, inducing nightmares<\/a> for many Halloweens to come.<\/span><\/p>\n

That same man is probably already prepping his house for next week’s spookfest<\/a>\u2014perhaps changing the tone on his Nest Hello video doorbell to the sound of a cackling witch or booing ghost.<\/span><\/p>\n

Google this week introduced spooky ringtones<\/a>, designed to surprise guests and crank up the mood on All Hallow’s Eve.<\/span><\/p>\n

Through Nov. 4, all U.S. Nest Hello owners have the option to transform their doorbell chime into a creepy chord\u2014”to make your front door a neighborhood destination on Halloween night,” according to Google keyword contributor Evan Barbour Grippi.<\/span><\/p>\n

Enable the fun feature<\/a> via the Nest mobile app: Settings > Doorbell Theme > Halloween.<\/span><\/p>\n

Other festive motifs include Christmas, Hanukkah, New Year’s, and “generic winter sounds.”<\/span><\/p>\n

“In late November, we’re bringing seasonal cheer with winter ringtones, which last through early January for users in the U.S., Canada, and European countries where Nest Hello is sold,” a company representative told Digital Trends<\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n

The app will alert users to new themes. After the holiday, doorbells automatically revert back to their default tone.<\/span><\/p>\n

Watch YouTube costume<\/a> and makeup tutorials with Nest Hub and Nest Hub Max; “get spooky” with Google Assistant’s hour-long playlist of sounds and music; stream scary movies to the big screen with Chromecast; add candy to your shopping list or learn a new recipe without lifting a finger; and set up a ghostly guest WiFi network for your party.<\/span><\/p>\n
