Arnold Schwarzenegger returns this week to the role that made him famous as the time-traveling murder robot in Terminator: Dark Fate<\/em>, along with Linda Hamilton has his target-cum-ally. We’re tentatively excited for the new flick after a decade of disappointing Terminators<\/em>, as the franchise really deserves to be thought of as an all-time great. It’s also been responsible for some seriously sweet toys, and here are our picks for the eleven best you can buy right now.<\/p>\n

Terminator 2 Cyberdyne Showdown Figure<\/h2>\n

One of the coolest bits of Terminator 2<\/em> – a movie that consists almost entirely of cool bits – is when Schwarzenegger’s T-800 raids the headquarters of Cyberdyne Systems to retrieve and destroy the arm from the previous Terminator that scientists would use to create Skynet. It’s a great way to play with the concept of paradoxes in time travel, as the future isn’t destroyed, only delayed. Our friendly robot gears up hard for the raid, and this NECA figure gives him all of his iconic weapons, including a minigun, ammo bandolier, shotgun, and more. Great sculpt with tons of detail here.<\/p>\n

Hot Toys T-600 Endoskeleton Figure<\/h2>\n

One of the major turning points in the Terminator<\/em> franchise is when Skynet made the decision to have their ambulatory hunter-killer robots take on human form to better blend in with the few remaining human rebels. The first model to do so was the T-600, which used primitive rubber skin that could be clocked easily. This 1\/6 scale Hot Toys figure shows you what they look like under there, as seen in Terminator: Salvation<\/em>. Modeled after original designs by Martin Laing, this extremely poseable robot boasts an arm-mounted chaingun and a custom base for extra stability.<\/p>\n

NECA T-1000 Motorcycle Cop Figure<\/h2>\n

James Cameron really had to up the ante for Terminator 2<\/em>, but where do you go from an implacable robot assassin who just keeps coming no matter what? Well, you get flexible. As played by Robert Patrick, the T-1000 was one of the scariest antagonists of the 90s, a stone-faced killer who could morph his body into any shape as he hunted down a young John Connor. This super detailed figure from NECA, signed off on by Patrick himself, shows the T-1000 in his motorcycle policeman disguise and comes with a bunch of alternate hands, including some that have his liquid steel blades out and ready to slice.<\/p>\n

Funko ReAction Terminator Figure Set<\/h2>\n

While most modern action figures are all about the articulation and detail, the ReAction line pioneered by Bay Area toymakers Super 7 hearkens back to a simpler time, when our Star Wars<\/em> figures bent at the hips and the shoulders and that was good enough. Since teaming up with Funko, they’ve grabbed a bunch of different licenses, and their Terminator<\/em> collection<\/a> is top notch. This complete set gets you a pair of T-800 endoskeletons, Sarah Connor, Kyle Reese, John Connor, and the skin-clad Schwarzenegger T-800, along with weapons and accessories.<\/p>\n

Mega Bloks Terminator Genisys Spider Tank<\/h2>\n

If LEGO doesn’t have the license to a pop culture property, there’s a pretty good chance you’ll find it over at Mega Bloks. Mattel’s brick-based construction line (they bought them from a Canadian company back in 2014) is the second biggest in the world and represent all kinds of sci-fi and fantasy franchises. Terminator<\/em> is no exception, and they’ve put out a few kits. Our favorite is this take on the stalking Spider Tank from Terminator: Genisys<\/em>, the towering ground-based combat robot that makes life hard for the surviving humans of the future.<\/p>\n

While we’ve never considered cuddling up to a homicidal murder robot sent back from the future to slaughter us, we know that you’re freaky out there. If a stuffed Terminator is your cup of tea, this Phunny Plush from legendary indie store Kidrobot is the one to go for. Standing just over seven inches tall, the little T-800 is ready to give you all the snuggles you need as its cybernetic master lays the groundwork for global thermonuclear war and the eradication of the human race.<\/p>\n

“Oh, that old thing,” you’ll say to visitors as they notice the gleaming steel robot skull that’s sitting on your display shelf. “Just fought for my life against a robot sent from the future specifically to murder me… and won.” Obviously don’t let them get too close to this high-end replica, which features a skull cavity that opens with a magnetic latch to store important items in, because they’ll see it’s significantly smaller than an actual human – or robot – skull and ask too many questions. Power Arm T-800 Figure<\/h2>\n

Action figure lovers know that toy companies love to push the envelope when it comes to their figure designs, especially in series that only have a few main characters. When Kenner got the Terminator 2<\/em> license in the 1990s, they had to milk it as much as they could, which introduced some wacky ideas into the timeline. Case in point: the “Power Arm” T-800, which equipped Arnold with an absurdly large robotic limb featuring a gripper claw, for some reason. NECA did a series of throwbacks to that line, so you don’t have to turn to eBay to get one.<\/p>\n

Die-Cast Hunter Killer Tank<\/h2>\n

One of the best things for humanity in the Terminator<\/em> franchise is that Skynet only figures out how to send human-size objects back into the past. Whenever we get a glimpse at what the machine-controlled future looks like, the last few people are being hunted down by some of the most terrifying weapons of war ever conceived. One of the most iconic is the massive hunter-killer tanks that roll through the bombed-out rubble on massive treads, cutting down anything that stands in their way. This dope solid metal replica has moving treads, wheels that pivot and more.<\/p>\n

Mega Construx Kubros T-800<\/h2>\n

We’re big fans of alternate interpretations of familiar characters here on Toy Tuesday, so let’s make a turn into a realm of 8-bit video game inspired design with Mega Construx’s Kubros line. Mattel’s variant on Lego’s BrickHeadz line, where instead of working at minifigure scale they use lots of blocks to make more detailed, sculptural takes on famous characters, didn’t last that long, but while it did they brought us a super solid Terminator. The T-800 comes with a plasma rifle and the trademark coin design on the foot.<\/p>\n

Movie Masterpiece Sarah Connor Figure<\/h2>\n

If we were to assemble a canon of all-time great female action protagonists, Sarah Connor would be right up there at the top with Ellen Ripley. Linda Hamilton transformed herself into a shredded ass-kicker for Terminator 2<\/em>, and in doing so completely upended the structure of the franchise. Not ashamed to admit we let out an audible “hell yes” when she turned up in the Dark Fate<\/em> trailer. This figure from Hot Toys’ Movie Masterpiece line is modeled after her appearance in the second movie at 1\/6 scale. The figure stands nearly a foot tall and comes with a passel of weapons and accessories, including a cigarette she can smoke!<\/p>\n
