(Photo Credit: Bettmann \/ Getty Images and Farm Images \/ Getty Images)<\/div>\n<\/figure>\n<p>On Wednesday, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.geek.com\/science\/scientists-accidentally-usher-in-new-era-of-green-chemistry-1737603\/\"  rel=\"noopener\">chemistry<\/a> fans worldwide are taking part in a holiday called Mole Day\u2060\u2014and it has nothing to do with\u00a0burrowing mammals, birthmarks, or guacamole.<\/p>\n<p>Mole Day, which is takes place annually on Oct. 23 from 6:02 a.m. to 6:02 p.m., celebrates\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.lexico.com\/en\/definition\/avogadro's_number\"  rel=\"noopener\">Avogadro&#8217;s Number (6.02 x 10<sup>23<\/sup>)<\/a>, a basic measuring unit used in chemistry, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.moleday.org\/index.php\/what-is-mole-day\/what-is-mole-day-sub.html\"  rel=\"noopener\">according to the National Mole Day Foundation<\/a>. So, if a water molecule has a molar mass of 20, one mole of water weighs 20 grams.
