On Wednesday, chemistry<\/a> fans worldwide are taking part in a holiday called Mole Day\u2060\u2014and it has nothing to do with\u00a0burrowing mammals, birthmarks, or guacamole.<\/p>\n

Mole Day, which is takes place annually on Oct. 23 from 6:02 a.m. to 6:02 p.m., celebrates\u00a0Avogadro’s Number (6.02 x 1023<\/sup>)<\/a>, a basic measuring unit used in chemistry, according to the National Mole Day Foundation<\/a>. It was discovered by\u00a0Amedeo Avogadro<\/a>, an Italian scientist who was known for his work in the 19th century.<\/p>\n

Happy Mole Day chemists, chemistry students, and chemistry enthusiasts! ?<\/p>\n

Mole Day celebrates the measurement for the amount of any elementary entity, the Avogadro’s number, and begins from 6:02 AM to 6:02 PM on the 23rd of October every year.<\/p>\n
