Then I popped them out, attached them to the side of a phone, and said, \u201cOh, they really went all the way.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Nintendo may have an edge when it comes to quality games, but if you want to get a Switch-esque gaming experience with your phone the new Razer Junglecat definitely provides.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-1808805\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.geek.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/razer-switch-17.jpg?resize=640%2C360&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" srcset=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.geek.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/razer-switch-17.jpg?resize=640%2C360&#038;ssl=1 690w, https:\/\/www.geek.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/razer-switch-17-300x169.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.geek.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/razer-switch-17-625x352.jpg 625w, https:\/\/www.geek.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/razer-switch-17-650x366.jpg 650w, https:\/\/www.geek.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/razer-switch-17-141x80.jpg 141w, https:\/\/www.geek.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/razer-switch-17-130x73.jpg 130w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 690px) 100vw, 690px\" data-recalc-dims=\"1\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The dream of playing mobile games with real controllers has been around for a while. Apple straight-up lets you use <a href=\"https:\/\/www.geek.com\/tech\/apple-tv-gets-real-video-game-controllers-1790070\/\"  rel=\"noopener\">PlayStation and Xbox controllers<\/a>\u00a0while the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.geek.com\/shop\/geek-pick-gamevice-1748378\/\"  rel=\"noopener\">Gamevice<\/a>\u00a0toyed with the idea of wrapping the sticks and buttons around the device itself. But the Razer Junglecat just uses the idea Nintendo has already proven successful on its tablet game console.<\/p>\n<p>And it works! Whether attached to the sides of your phone or held separately in your hands, the Junglecat is a solid controller. It\u2019s no <a href=\"https:\/\/www.geek.com\/tech\/geek-pick-xbox-elite-series-2-controller-lives-mas-1807413\/\"  rel=\"noopener\">Xbox Elite Controller<\/a>\u00a0or anything. It\u2019s way too light. But compared to playing <em>Fortnite<\/em> with just a touch screen, the sticks and buttons are far superior. During my demo I played <em>The King of Fighters All Star<\/em> beat \u2018em up spin-off, on a TV no less. And using the controller to wail on punks as future <em>Smash Bros<\/em>. character Terry Bogard felt perfectly fine and relatively lag-free over Bluetooth.<\/p>\n<div class=\"flex-video widescreen embed\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/TgyhpK1gKbE?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/div>\n<p>Even better is that with Razer\u2019s Gamepad app you can intelligently remap touch screen functions to the controller even for games without built-in controller support, giving the already cool and flexible Junglecat added versatility. And you get 100 hours of battery off of a USB-C charge.<\/p>\n<p>Unfortunately, even a great controller can\u2019t fix things if the games themselves are bad. Mobile gaming is currently a hellscape of exploitative <a href=\"https:\/\/www.geek.com\/games\/please-pay-for-mobile-games-1685904\/\"  rel=\"noopener\">free-to-play scams<\/a>. The premium experiences on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.geek.com\/games\/hands-on-apple-arcade-is-a-throwback-to-good-mobile-games-1804128\/\"  rel=\"noopener\">Apple Arcade<\/a>\u00a0are a step in the right direction, but the Razer Junglecat is only compatible with Android. This dilemma isn\u2019t necessarily Razer\u2019s fault but it is worth mentioning.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-1808807\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.geek.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/razer-switch-compare.jpeg?resize=640%2C640&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"\" width=\"640\" height=\"640\" srcset=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.geek.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/razer-switch-compare.jpeg?resize=640%2C640&#038;ssl=1 690w, https:\/\/www.geek.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/razer-switch-compare-300x300.jpeg 300w, https:\/\/www.geek.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/razer-switch-compare-625x625.jpeg 625w, https:\/\/www.geek.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/razer-switch-compare-650x650.jpeg 650w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 690px) 100vw, 690px\" data-recalc-dims=\"1\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Still, if you want your Android gaming experience to be the best it can be either at home or on the go, the Razer Junglecat mobile controller is practically a necessity. It\u2019s available now for $100.
