Between the sheer number of intriguing games and ease of dabbling all over the place with the subscription model, I\u2019ve played a bunch of Apple Arcade games on the shiny new iPhone 11 Pro, but not for nearly as much time as I would have liked. And I suspect that\u2019s the case for most players coming off of the free trial wondering if they should pay for a few more months.<\/p>\n<p>So with the context that these are not comprehensive at all, here are a bunch of tiny reviews of big Apple Arcade games.<\/p>\n<div class=\"flex-video widescreen embed\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/u1zN28WvtSE?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/div>\n<p><em>Mutazione<\/em> is like <em>Night in the Woods<\/em> was also a chill version of <em>Annihilation<\/em>, and folks who know what all of those words mean will dig it.<\/p>\n<div class=\"flex-video widescreen embed\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/kTca9fM95vU?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/div>\n<p><em>Redout: Space Assault<\/em> is pretty but I didn\u2019t like this series when it was fake <em>F-Zero<\/em>, and I still don\u2019t like it as fake <em>Star Fox<\/em>.<\/p>\n<div class=\"flex-video widescreen embed\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/t74SYLP_3sU?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/div>\n<p><em>Lego Brawls<\/em> has all the colorful, wacky, fast-paced fun of slamming toys together. It also has about as much strategy, which is to say almost none.<\/p>\n<div class=\"flex-video widescreen embed\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/U0WdUsip1is?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/div>\n<p><em>Shantae and the Seven Sirens<\/em> continues the journey of the half-genie hero and her cheesecake friends, finally combining modern illustrated graphics with the <a href=\"http:\/\/itteacheritfreelance.hk\/index.php\" title=\"\u672c\u7db1\u9801\u63d0\u4f9b\u4e00\u500b\u65b9\u4fbf\u7684\u5e73\u53f0, \u70ba\u5927\u5bb6\u914d\u5c0d\u96fb\u8166\u88dc\u7fd2,IT freelance, \u79c1\u4eba\u8001\u5e2b , PHP\u88dc\u7fd2, HTML\u88dc\u7fd2, CSS\u88dc\u7fd2, JavaScript\u88dc\u7fd2, XML, Java\u88dc\u7fd2,Server\u88dc\u7fd2, MySQL\u88dc\u7fd2, \u4e2d\u5b78\u96fb\u8166\u79d1\u79c1\u4eba\u88dc\u7fd2, \u5728\u8077\u4eba\u58eb\u96fb\u8166\u63d0\u5347\u88dc\u7fd2,\u5c08\u696d\u8003\u8a66\u96fb\u8166 \u88dc\u7fd2,\u96fb\u8166\u5716\u50cf\u8a2d\u8a08\u96fb\u8166\u88dc\u7fd2, gra\">class<\/a>ic nonlinear structure. Just play with a controller.<\/p>\n<div class=\"flex-video widescreen embed\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/04i8usL2lF0?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/div>\n<p><em>Assemble With Care<\/em> takes tasks as mundane as unpacking a suitcase or fixing a tape recorder and fills them with the gentle intimate puzzle-solving fun you\u2019d expect from the (disappointingly anti-union) makers of <em>Monument Valley<\/em>.<\/p>\n<div class=\"flex-video widescreen embed\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"500\" height=\"375\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/zb6bf14lAYw?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/div>\n<p><em>Mini Motorways<\/em> lets you draw your own roads to solve traffic jams across the world, but hardcore fans say it\u2019s a step backwards from <em>Mini Metro<\/em>.<\/p>\n<div class=\"flex-video widescreen embed\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/NDtFUqnMRGE?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/div>\n<p><em>Frogger in Toy Town<\/em> adds a bizarre amount of realistic physics to one of the most famously rigid and grid-based game designs in history. It looks really nice, though.<\/p>\n<div class=\"flex-video widescreen embed\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/hHOWToD7wuE?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/div>\n<p><em>ChuChu Rocket! Universe<\/em> doesn\u2019t change my lukewarm opinion on the Sega Dreamcast, but the 3D spatial puzzles are clever enough that I\u2019m glad this series made a comeback.<\/p>\n<div class=\"flex-video widescreen embed\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/fiw1QHFqHE4?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/div>\n<p><em>Grindstone<\/em> is already cool enough as a block-matching puzzle where you sometimes worry about the blocks biting back. But it\u2019s the satisfying carnage of your beefy fantasy hero just chopping through those monsters that put this one over the top.<\/p>\n<div class=\"flex-video widescreen embed\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/YfR5RC58Rjs?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/div>\n<p><em>Card of Darkness<\/em> has the pleasing aesthetic and unexpected remixes of familiar but elegant deep strategy systems and number mechanics that we\u2019ve come to expect from <a href=\"https:\/\/www.geek.com\/games\/pocket-run-pool-and-other-great-zach-gage-mobile-games-1740966\/\"  rel=\"noopener\">Zach Gage<\/a>.<\/p>\n<div class=\"flex-video widescreen embed\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/p075SiCyT2s?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/div>\n<p><em>Rayman Mini<\/em> is basically a pocket version of those gorgeous <em>Rayman<\/em> platformers from a few years ago, and it&#8217;s a fine substitute if you can\u2019t get the real thing.<\/p>\n<div class=\"flex-video widescreen embed\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/qCP-DWXK2qE?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/div>\n<p><em>Cat Quest II<\/em> feels like more of the same, an accessible yet surprisingly deep and addictive action RPG starring cats. This time you can play with a friend.<\/p>\n<div class=\"flex-video widescreen embed\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/_eZEN1aRM94?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/div>\n<p>Whereas the original <a href=\"https:\/\/www.geek.com\/games\/oceanhorn-isnt-zelda-but-it-might-as-well-be-1706462\/\"  rel=\"noopener\"><em>Oceanhorn<\/em><\/a>\u00a0ripped off <em>The Wind Waker<\/em>, <em>Oceanhorn II<\/em> has its hungry eyes set on <em>Breath of the Wild<\/em>. However, the overall structure is still closer to a traditional 3D<em> Legend of Zelda<\/em> game, and still quite ambitious and beautiful for a mobile adventure.<\/p>\n<div class=\"flex-video widescreen embed\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/O9KUOPcKgxQ?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/div>\n<p><em>Speed Demons<\/em> has incredible style and crunchy car destruction that made me pine for <em>Burnout<\/em>. But the top-down perspective just can\u2019t provide the sense of speed I\u2019m looking for from a racing game.<\/p>\n<div class=\"flex-video widescreen embed\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/TNXoTLn5ISs?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/div>\n<p><em>Hot Lava<\/em> opens with this awesomely elaborate parody of 1980s eco-themed action cartoons designed to sell toys. It goes on and on, with a full storyline and emotional arcs for its characters. It\u2019s honestly way better than the game itself, which is a first-person platformer that\u2019s about as awkward as \u201c<em>Mirror\u2019s Edge<\/em> with touch controls\u201d sounds.<\/p>\n<div class=\"flex-video widescreen embed\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/jZ_yxZwAoCg?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/div>\n<p><em>Manifold Garden<\/em> has been in the works for years and years. When you play it you get why. Traveling through this impossible geometry feels like an effortless dream. But pulling off those trippy puzzles was surely a stressful nightmare.<\/p>\n<div class=\"flex-video widescreen embed\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/EHuTdck718s?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/div>\n<p><em>EarthNight<\/em> is essentially an automatic runner, occasionally broken up by bits where you fall from the sky. But the art is so distinct, the music so fresh, and the motion so freeing and fluid, that you can\u2019t help but get swept up into it.<\/p>\n<div class=\"flex-video widescreen embed\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/mt_ml1K9M4k?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/div>\n<p>In a world where pinball-inspired games are getting increasingly abstract, <em>The Pinball Wizard<\/em> is relatively straightforward. Each dungeon floor is a pretty traditional table, it\u2019s just full of monsters you defeat by physically bouncing the adorable wizard into them.<\/p>\n<div class=\"flex-video widescreen embed\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/gmfkEFedMCA?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/div>\n<p><em>Neo Cab<\/em> presents a barely futuristic world where you are the last human driver competing against automated rideshare services, while also trying to find your missing friend. And you can monitor your exact emotional state when picking dialogue. It\u2019s really engrossing. I just can\u2019t get behind being a taxi driver that talks to customers this much, something I never want in real life.<\/p>\n<div class=\"flex-video widescreen embed\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/A1-sb3SPtLk?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/div>\n<p><em>What the Golf?<\/em> makes you question the limits of what a golf game can even be. Is it just about hitting a ball into a hole? What about hitting a hole into another hole? What about hitting a whole pile of balls? What about hitting your club with another club? The answers to these questions are more are waiting.<\/p>\n<div class=\"flex-video widescreen embed\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/Qomx1kaKYJI?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/div>\n<p><em>Exit the Gungeon<\/em> is more than just a great name for a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.geek.com\/games\/enter-the-gungeons-gun-puns-are-a-blast-on-nintendo-switch-1726336\/\"  rel=\"noopener\">sequel<\/a>. It maintains the original\u2019s ability to marry simple 2D arenas with surprisingly nuanced and action-packed gunfight mechanics.
