Today, fans are celebrating the anniversary of the character&#8217;s disappearance on Stranger Things Day.<\/p>\n<p>You may ask, &#8216;Why would a Netflix show get its own unofficial holiday?&#8217; But, there&#8217;s more to this Hawkins-themed celebration.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">when it&#8217;s stranger things day and there&#8217;s only one boi on your mind <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/I6TOXpMe5L\">pic.twitter.com\/I6TOXpMe5L<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Stranger Things (@Stranger_Things) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/Stranger_Things\/status\/1191988589095243776?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">November 6, 2019<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p>Nov. 6 is a very important day in the <em>Stranger Things<\/em> universe. <a href=\"https:\/\/metro.co.uk\/2019\/11\/06\/stranger-things-day-everything-need-know-netflix-holiday-11049575\/\"  rel=\"noopener\"><em>Metro<\/em> points out<\/a> that it&#8217;s the date when Byers (Noah Schnapp) went missing in <em>Stranger Things<\/em> Season 1. Byers&#8217; mysterious situation occurred in 1983 and it kickstarted a major investigation into the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.geek.com\/games\/stranger-things-demogorgon-becomes-next-dead-by-daylight-monster-1800637\/\"  rel=\"noopener\">Upside Down<\/a>. Soon enough, all the characters in the series started to witness the dangers of this parallel world, including the Mind Flayer.<\/p>\n<div class=\"flex-video widescreen embed\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/jWj_XTDz5O4?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/div>\n<p>This year, Netflix created a sweet tribute to the series with a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=jWj_XTDz5O4\"  rel=\"noopener\">Stranger Things Day video<\/a>.
