{"id":176627,"date":"2019-11-20T19:31:47","date_gmt":"2019-11-20T11:31:47","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.mobileworldlive.com\/?p=262324"},"modified":"2019-11-20T19:31:47","modified_gmt":"2019-11-20T11:31:47","slug":"huawei-courts-european-decision-makers-over-5g","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/itteacheritfreelance.hk\/test\/wordpress\/2019\/11\/20\/huawei-courts-european-decision-makers-over-5g\/","title":{"rendered":"Huawei courts European decision makers over 5G"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>        \tHuawei\u2019s EU head of strategy and policy Hui Cao backed Europe as the world\u2019s natural 5G leader, hours after a top US official urged countries to take heed of threats outlined in the recently published European Commission 5G risk assessment report.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking at the Huawei-arranged Brussels 5G Assembly, Cao reiterated the company\u2019s willingness to work with authorities on the continent to verify its equipment, while highlighting the potential of Europe as a leading player in 5G.<\/p>\n<p>He said Europe must be a \u201cleader, not a follower on the road to a digital future,\u201d noting the continent had \u201cthe most advanced operators and a world\u2013leading industrial base\u201d offering the potential to \u201cshape the world\u2019s 5G landscape\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>During his speech, Cao also noted there was a need for: \u201crecognition of the global supply chain connecting all vendors that exists. In other words: let\u2019s acknowledge the fact that all vendors\u2019 equipment contains parts made in China. This is why Huawei advocates the rapid adoption of measures that address the challenges of cyber-security and to put governments\u2019 and consumers\u2019 minds at ease.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>US warning<br \/>\nThe event came hours after US secretary of state Mike Pompeo released a statement calling for governments to take note of threats outlined in the European Commission\u2019s risk assessment [1] on 5G networks released last month.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cPeople should be able to trust that 5G equipment and software companies will not threaten their security, privacy, IP, or human rights,\u201d Pompeo said. \u201cFor nations looking to build out their 5G networks, the European Commission risk assessment named these threats.
