of Walmart&#8217;s Grocery Pickup and Delivery service (which includes <a href=\"https:\/\/www.geek.com\/tech\/walmart-launches-direct-to-fridge-grocery-drop-off-in-four-cities-1807494\/\"  rel=\"noopener\">direct-to-fridge drop-off<\/a>)\u2014is initially open only to select customers who have opted in.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The firms plan to expand the option to the general public &#8220;later in 2020.&#8221;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">&#8220;Our unparalleled size and scale have allowed us to steer grocery delivery to the front doors of millions of families\u2014and design a roadmap for the future of the industry,&#8221; Tom Ward, Walmart&#8217;s senior vice president of digital operations, said in <a href=\"https:\/\/corporate.walmart.com\/newsroom\/2019\/12\/10\/walmart-to-test-drive-autonomous-grocery-deliveries-with-nuro\"  rel=\"noopener\">a statement<\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Boasting more than 50,000 personal shoppers, the retail giant has grown its online grocery footprint to nearly 3,100 pickup locations, with deliveries coming from 1,600-plus stores.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">&#8220;Along the way,&#8221; it remains unclear exactly where (&#8220;Houston&#8221;), when (&#8220;in the coming weeks&#8221;), and to how many people the program will extend.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">&#8220;Walmart&#8217;s dedication to its customers aligns with our desire to help people save time and money while making shopping easier,&#8221; <a href=\"https:\/\/medium.com\/nuro\/why-nuro-and-walmart-have-teamed-up-bringing-autonomous-grocery-delivery-into-2020-8e1ae8b3b9f6\"  rel=\"noopener\">according to<\/a> Cosimo Leipold, Nuro&#8217;s head of partner relations.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">&#8220;Working alongside Walmart gives us an incredible opportunity to improve our door-to-door operations, serve Walmart&#8217;s loyal customers, and continue to integrate and engage with the Houston community,&#8221;
