\tSamsung Electronics acquired US-based network services provider TeleWorld Solutions (TWS) for an undisclosed sum, as part of a bid by the South Korea-based vendor to strengthen its services portfolio and bolster its growing networks business.<\/p>\n
The company stated TWS will bring competency in RF, along with expertise in network design, installation, testing and optimisation services for cable and mobile operators. The business will operate as a wholly-owned subsidiary, with its current leadership team continuing to helm.<\/p>\n
Paul Kyungwhoon Cheun, EVP and head of Samsung Electronics\u2019 Networks business, said the deal will allow it to “meet\u00a0mobile carriers\u2019 growing needs\u00a0for improving their 4G and 5G networks, and eventually create new opportunities to enhance our service capabilities to our customers\u201d.<\/p>\n
The move comes as Samsung works to use the 5G transition to establish a stronger position in the global equipment market.<\/p>\n
