(Me, too, lizards. Me, too.)<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">&#8220;They may fall from trees,&#8221; NWS Miami warned. &#8220;But they are not dead.&#8221;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">At least, not until unsuspecting passersby murder them in alarm.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">January temperatures in the 30s and 40s are not unusual for much of the U.S. It is, after all, the dead of winter.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">But freezing temps in Miami are basically unheard of; the city&#8217;s average minimum forecast is 61 degrees Fahrenheit\u2014its lowest all year. A few times each decade, Miami may see a winter night fall below 45 degrees Fahrenheit.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Which is exactly what happened in early 2018, when <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Palm Beach Post<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> columnist Frank Cerabino <a href=\"https:\/\/www.palmbeachpost.com\/news\/cerabino-warming-the-celebrity-iguana-backyard\/NBeyl7VVnNIdpI46nSxV0K\"  rel=\"noopener\">snapped a photo of a stunned iguana<\/a>\u2014sprawled upside down, four little feet in the air\u2014next to his swimming pool after it fell from a tree.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The New York Times<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2018\/01\/04\/us\/iguana-florida-cold-weather.html\"  rel=\"noopener\">picked up the story<\/a>\u2014and Cerabino&#8217;s image.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">By all accounts, the lizard survived its crash.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Despite its inaccessible blue-on-blue text, the graphic NSW Miami tweeted provides a lot of useful information. As well as a puzzling illustration.<\/span><\/p>\n<div class=\"embed\">\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"500\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Why are there oven mitts? We didn&#8217;t think of that!&#8221;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Frankly, I&#8217;ve never met a Floridian (myself included) who even owns a pair of gloves.
