With the release of the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X merely two weeks away, it seems publishers are gearing up to fully embrace the next-generation of console gaming. Today, EA announced the next-gen release dates for Madden 21 and FIFA 21, while NetherRealm recently revealed that Mortal Kombat 11 will offer a free enhanced upgrade to current owners.
Joining the trend will, of course, be Ubisoft, who has been clear for a while now that games like Watch Dogs: Legion and Assassin’s Creed Valhalla will come to current and next-generation hardware. The company went one step further yesterday, however, revealing exactly what players can expect when tuning into 8 of its biggest current and upcoming games on the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X.
In terms of Watch Dogs: Legion, players on both PS5 and Series X can expect unparalleled load times and a free upgrade from current to next-generation hardware. The Series X will also receive hardware-accelerated raytracing, while the PlayStation 5 boasts normal raytracing. The PS5 will also feature “hand-tuned responses,” which come from the DualSense controller’s immersive feedback features, and enhanced sound due to the Tempest 3D audio engine. As for Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, both consoles will offer 4K visuals at 60 FPS, faster loading speeds, and a free next-generation upgrade. The PS5 port will once again offer more immersive audio in comparison to its PS4 counterpart.
Immortals Fenyx Rising is up next, and will see PS5 and Series X owners receive 4K visuals and 60 FPS gameplay, HDR, faster loading speeds, and a free next-generation upgrade. Both consoles’ High Dynamic Range technology will also provide richer colors according to Ubisoft, while the PS5’s immersive audio and controller feedback features are also implemented. Far Cry 6 is highlighted but doesn’t specify individual features for either console. It will offer 4K visuals and seamless 60 FPS gameplay, while players can once again expect a free upgrade from current to next-gen hardware.
Riders Republic offers enhanced visuals, HDR, and faster loading speeds as well, while Just Dance 2021 will provide players with a Series X and PS5 upgrade. Rainbow Six Siege will become smoother than ever with 4K visuals and a whopping 120 FPS on both Series X and PS5, alongside another free upgrade. Finally, Ubisoft confirms that For Honor will feature 4K visuals for Series X and PlayStation 5 while Series S will run at 1080p. All versions will run at 60 FPS starting in December, and will also be available through a free upgrade on Series X, S, and PS5.
