Praey for the Gods Announces Release Window for PS5, PS4

No Matter Studios announces that its crowdfunded action-adventure title Praey for the Gods will release on PS4 and PS5 in the first quarter of 2021. No Matter Studios is a very small studio of three developers and Praey for the Gods has been in development since 2016. Even with just three developers, No Matter Studios is gearing up to bring Praey for the Gods to PS5 using many of the next-generation console’s capabilities.

Director at No Matter Studios Brian Parnell posted on the PlayStation blog sharing details about the development and release of Praey for the Gods. Parnell says, “It looks great on PS4 and runs well, but on PS5 the game is truly amazing, 60fps right out of the gates, at max graphical settings, full shadows, high res textures it is awesome. Load times are dramatically reduced – it runs like a dream on PS5.”

Praey for the Gods will benefit greatly from running at 60 FPS and max graphical settings. The game features large environments, dynamically generated weather, and giant enemies, so the improvement to graphics will offer an even more immersive experience for players. Praey for the Gods will also benefit from faster load times, something that has been impressively shown off in a PS5 Devil May Cry 5 demonstration. The action-adventure title will have improved graphics, but will also utilize a couple physical features of the PS5.

Praey for the Gods will also benefit from the new DualSense controller technology. After seeing Sony demonstrations of the Dualsense controller, No Matter Studios optimized the action-adventure title to enable players to feel every interaction within the game. Parnell says, “Feeling your feet crunch through the deep snow, the tug of your sail cloth popping open as you leap into the air, or feeling the wind below – all of these impacts are felt in your hands as you control your character.”

The DualSense controller technology will affect many aspects of the gameplay and will have an interesting feature within the combat. While the main character can wield weapons like axes, clubs, and swords, the ranged bow weapon will utilize the adaptive triggers. The DualSense controller adaptive triggers are able to produce resistance to make activities and weapon use more realistic. Other PlayStation titles are also utilizing the DualSense controllers in similar ways. The Pathless is an upcoming PS5 title with exclusively bow-and-arrow gameplay with the adaptive triggers and haptic feedback playing a large part.

Players who purchase the PS4 version of Praey for the Gods will automatically get a free upgrade for the PS5. Although Sony is not heavily pushing developers to offer free upgrades, many console exclusive titles are still offering free upgrades like Horizon Forbidden West and Sackboy: A Big Adventure. The three developers are still hard at work in the latest stages of development to release the game in the first three months of 2021.

Praey for the Gods is expected to release in Quarter 1 of 2021 on PlayStation 4 and 5.
