Mass Effect features a universe full of memorable alien races, with the Krogans being among the most popular species in the entire franchise. While Urdnot Wrex is undoubtedly the most famous Krogan ally that can be recruited in the games, one cosplayer has shown some love for another Krogan ally in Mass Effect: Shepherd’s youthful companion Grunt.
Grunt first appears in Mass Effect 2, one of the games that will be included in the Legendary Edition of the beloved Mass Effect trilogy. While a remaster will no doubt have Grunt looking better than ever in-game, this real-world version of the character will still be hard to top. Full of incredible details, Elizabeth Erring brings the young Krogan to life and shows off the cosplay through a series of Instagram posts.
While some fans were pondering if the Mass Effect remasters should make the excellent Indoctrination Theory canon, Erring was showing off her Grunt outfit. The incredible costume features a detailed Krogan mask that makes both the rocky and smooth bits of Grunt’s skin stand out, with the character’s exposed arms and hands looking just as impressive.
As if that were not enough, however, the blue-eyed creature sports a full set of armor that looks just as effective as it does in-game. The bulky, shiny metal plates that fully cover the Krogan’s body are accented by blue lights, with a classic Mass Effect pistol in the hand of Grunt to complete the look. With a new Mass Effect game confirmed to be in development, perhaps Erring’s cosplay will serve as a reminder to Bioware that fans would love to see Grunt again.
One special photo from the set shows Elizabeth Erring’s grunt having a showdown with the popular Mass Effect companion Jack, who is cosplayed by Karin Olava. Olava’s Jack outfit looks just as impressive as her peer’s custom Grunt design, and the two cosplayers look perfect together. With the pair literally going head-to-head in the photo, their fun clash shows just how great Mass Effect’s cosplay community can be.
This mind blowing Grunt outfit joins a huge lineup of great video game cosplays from over the past few weeks, which include Borderlands Psycho costumes and looks based on Mileena from Mortal Kombat. With Nurse Joy and Mr. Mime cosplay as well as Abby from The Last of Us joining that list too, creative gamers have covered just about everything as of late when it comes to the world of cosplay.
