It is without a doubt that Sony’s PlayStation 5 is an impressive piece of gaming technology set to bring players to the next-generation of console gaming. However, given that the PS5 is still brand new, the console is not without problems, ranging from minor to some major issues. Now it appears that players have found an annoying detail on the PS5’s DualSense controller, but it is worth noting that this issue is not at all game-breaking.
Upon further inspection of the brand new controller, Far Cry 6’s game director Ted Timmins discovered that the Sony branding under the USB-C port on his controller is not properly aligned. After the discovery, several other players also noticed this slight defect and uploaded pictures of their DualSense on social media. Now, it appears that the problem varies from controller to controller, with some noticing the Sony brand is not properly centered at all. Of course, this issue is nothing major and will probably not bother the majority of PS5 owners.
Sadly, the same cannot be said with the PS5 itself. Shortly after the console’s release several weeks ago. Some players complained of issues with transferring data from the PS4 to the PS5, while others noticed that the back USB-C port is causing connectivity and transfer issues when plugging in an external hard drive. As for the DualSense controller, players reported connectivity issues, forcing them to reset their PS5 to factory settings to rectify the problem.
One major issue that players have complained about on the PS5 is its Rest Mode feature. Like the PS4, the PS5 allows players to put their console to low power while still being able to download firmware updates and software. However, some players noticed that after putting their consoles to rest mode, the PS5 would notify them of a critical error. This issue is causing players to reset their consoles once again, but severe cases appear to brick the console, requiring them to contact Sony for repair or replacement.
At the moment, it appears that most of the PS5’s launch issues are still unresolved. However, Sony recently released a software update a couple of days ago that improves the PS5’s stability. Of course, given that more and more players encounter problems with their new console, it is likely that Sony will release a major firmware update soon, which will hopefully address all the issues, especially the major problem with the PS5’s rest mode feature.
The PS5 is available now in select territories.
