After getting delayed for the third time, Cyberpunk 2077 is set to release in a few weeks from now, and more info about the upcoming game continues to surface online. Previously, CD Projekt Red revealed that Cyberpunk 2077 would heavily feature adult themes, which applies to the game’s romance options.
In a video released by GameSpot, journalist Phil Hornshaw shared some details on how relationships, and sex, will work in Cyberpunk 2077. In the video, Hornshaw revealed that he was able to play 16 hours of Cyberpunk 2077, allowing him to discover a sort of hidden relationship meter with people that players will interact in the game. According to Hornshaw, “the more time you spend with people, the more you help them out, the deeper your relationship becomes.” While players won’t be able to see the actual relationship meter, they will be able to tell whether their relationship with someone is going on a deeper level through how other characters interact with V.
Hornshaw also confirmed that players could take their relationships with other characters to the next level through dialog choices and the player’s effort in helping out someone fulfill a side quest. Interestingly enough, it appears that there were also instances when other characters would simply send the player a message to check up on them, and whether or not the player responds will affect their relationship. Although Hornshaw wasn’t able to find out how to embark on a sexual relationship with another character, he did note that there are plenty of sex workers in Cyberpunk 2077. As long as the player can afford their services, they can just pay their fee and be treated to a 30-second montage of lovemaking.
Given that Hornshaw was only able to play Cyberpunk 2077 for 16 hours, he wasn’t able to see relationships would play out in the long run. It is worth noting that while 16 hours appears to be a significant time, the game offers way more content than that, and a game dev even revealed a few days ago that they’ve spent 175 hours in Cyberpunk 2077 and still hasn’t rolled credits. Since Cyberpunk 2077 has been rated M for Mature by the ESRB, heavy adult-themes such as the ones discussed by Hornshaw are not surprising. But, CD Projekt Red will offer the option to turn off nudity in Cyberpunk 2077.
Meanwhile, players who are worried whether Cyberpunk 2077 will meet its target release date of December should rest easy now that CD Projekt Red has promised that the game will release as scheduled. Judging from everything that CD Projekt Red has been able to show so far, it appears now that Cyberpunk 2077 is finally ready to see the light of day.
Cyberpunk 2077 will be available on December 10 for PC, PS4, Stadia, and Xbox One, with PS5 and Xbox Series X versions releasing in 2021.
