Call of Duty: Warzone Tracker App No Longer Works After Activision’s Privacy Update

After a major burst of news regarding Call of Duty: Warzone and a world of stat-tracking apps, Activision has decided to make a chance to each player’s privacy settings. Many fans considered it only a matter of time until Activision made a decision regarding third-party applications, but this new choice has caused frustration among the game’s fans. Call of Duty: Warzone players are expressing a wide range of anger and confusion towards the developers, but others say that something had to be done either way.

The Call of Duty: Warzone tracking apps birthed a new world of outrage as they opened the door for locating cheaters and hackers within the game. From streamers being accused of cheating to players using the lobby stats for reverse boosting, the app caused chaos for several days. With Activision now restricting access to player data, the apps remain useless, but fan frustration continues to grow.

The Call of Duty: Warzone trackers are rather self-explanatory as they offer a way for players to view personal and lobby stats. Each app can rate a player’s performance by keeping track of their kills, deaths, accuracy, and other minor pieces of data. Many players used the app to spot obvious cheaters within a game and aided in locating cheat-free lobbies to enjoy Warzone in. While other fans found more dishonest uses for the app, all of the varying versions are now broken due to Activision’s intervention.

The choice to switch all player accounts to friends only has prompted a new video from Call of Duty: Warzone YouTuber Drift0r. After originally unveiling the problem with the app, Drift0r now feels responsible for everything that has happened since then. The Call of Duty: Warzone YouTuber states in his video that he felt like he was doing the right thing reporting the issue to Activision, but seeing the publisher’s reaction feels similar to sweeping the problem under the rug.

Streamers and community members have been quick to voice their opinions online, with many wondering if Activision is hiding something. Many Call of Duty: Warzone fans see their action as a way to protect the top content creators who were being targeted by fans through the varying applications. On Reddit, Str4angeDejaVu asked a few streamers to share their thoughts, and each of them echoed a similar stance. Each one felt that it was strange and that something else is going on. This echo of confusion between the fast reaction on covering up a problem versus the length of time for a fix makes people wonder what is really happening.

There has been no word from Activision as of yet to the effect that changing fans’ stats will have. Call of Duty: Warzone fans are left speculating on a motive, while many content creators and community members are working hard to find a workaround for this switch.

Call of Duty: Warzone is available on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
