Last week, the Epic Games Store added two new games to its weekly lineup of free titles, featuring both Bethesda’s Rage 2 and Funselektor Labs’ Absolute Drift: Zen Edition. Both games were big gets for players, but now, the pair of titles have left the storefront to make way for the newest addition to the marketplace’s promotion.
Sunless Sea is officially free to grab on the Epic Game Store and will be available to claim from now until March 4. Meanwhile, next week’s game has also been revealed, with Wargame: Red Dragon set to take Sunless Sea’s spot next Thursday and remaining up for grabs until it departs on March 11.
For those unaware of both titles, Sunless Sea is set in an alternate-universe Victorian London, providing survival-focused RPG mechanics with a roguelike twist. Players take on the role of a sea captain sailing through a fictional, underground ocean known as the Unterzee. Along the way, they’ll have to confront a series of terrifying enemies and deal with the harrowing results of living in the game’s morbid world, including madness and cannibalism. The game was a critical success upon release and was lorded for its unique setting and gameplay, offering a Victorian-gothic aesthetic with Lovecraftian monsters to tackle.
Wargame: Red Dragon, on the other hand, is a real-time strategy game where players take on the role of an army commander. They’ll have to manage troops including tanks, warships, planes, helicopters, and more, with players able to enjoy a fleshed-out single-player mode or do battle online with friends. Interestingly, Red Dragon was meant to debut on the Epic Games Store back in November, however, it got pushed back and replaced by another RTS in Dungeons 3. It seems Epic Games is now ready to launch the game and get it into strategy fans’ hands.
As March quickly approaches, players can expect several free games from a variety of sources, including both Microsoft and Sony. Games with Gold players on Xbox will be able to pick up four titles starting next week, with the list including Warface: Breakout, VALA: Vicious Attack Llama Apocalpyse, Metal Slug 3, and Port Royale 3. PlayStation players are still waiting for confirmation on what they’ll receive next month via their Plus memberships, although they do know they’ll be getting Ratchet and Clank with or without the subscription thanks to Sony’s Play At Home Initiative. the Epic Games Store will seemingly continue to offer free titles every week throughout March.
