Dungeons and Dragons Tasha’s Cauldron of Everything – Which Subclasses Are Reprints?

Dungeons and Dragons just announced the biggest optional rules expansion to 5e since Xanathar’s Guide to Everything, which means that tabletop gamers have a boatload of new options for customizing their playable characters. In addition to new lineage options for character creation and some updates to the Artificer class, the new book, Tasha’s Cauldron of Everything, includes a whooping 22 subclass options. Most of these options are brand new, though they have been tested through Unearthed Arcana, but there will be a handful that look a bit familiar, as well.

Once players get their hands on the book they’ll be able to explore all 22 subclass options including exciting additions like the Aberrant Mind and Beast Master. One additional goal of Tasha’s Cauldron of Everything is to pull together some things that have been printed in campaign setting specific books into one sourcebook. One example of that is the reprint of the Artificer, but there are also a handful of subclasses that have been printed other places and will reappear in this Dungeons and Dragons book when it drops in November.

Over the past year or so, some very cool subclasses have been added to the game thanks to the Guildmaster’s Guide to Ravnica, Mythic Odyssey of Theros, and a handful of other books. Although not every campaign setting specific subclass appears in Tasha’s Cauldron, there are five that made the cut (in addition to the Artificer subclasses)…

Order Domain (Guildmasters’ Guide to Ravnica)

Circle of Spores (Guildmasters’ Guide to Ravnica)

College of Eloquence (Mythic Odysseys of Theros)

Oath of Glory (Mythic Odysseys of Theros)

Bladesinging (Sword Coast Adventurer’s Guide)

Interestingly, none of three Explorer’s Guide to Wildemount classes made the cut. It may be possible that those options are just too tied to Dunamancy to easily port them over to non-Wildemount settings. That said, the addition of a handful of the Magic subclasses is very exciting and this will be pretty convenient for players who want access to as many subclasses as possible without buying setting books for planes where they do not intend to set out on an adventure. Additional subclasses will be announced as the release date draws nearer, so keep an eye out for updates in the coming weeks and months.

There are going to be a lot of other details about Tasha’s Cauldron of Everything and other upcoming D&D products dropping throughout the rest of the summer and early fall, so be sure to stay tuned and check back for additional news. Be sure to check back in the near future for more Dungeons and Dragons news, updates, and strategy guides. Until then, roll well, adventurers!

Dungeons and Dragons: Tasha’s Cauldron of Everything releases on November 17, 2020. Existing Dungeons and Dragons products are available now at game stores or digitally through DnD Beyond.
