Ghost Of Tsushima: 10 Video Game Warriors Jin Sakai Can Fight

Thanks to Sucker Punch Studios’ Ghost of Tsushima, fans can take on the role of a samurai showcasing his swordsmanship against a multitude of foes in melee combat. However, as its narrative shows, the protagonist Jin Sakai also learns that his mission to defeat the Mongols in Tsushima requires a little more finesse. As such, he takes on the mantle of a Ghost and he learns to use both the shadows and his blade to prevail in this Medieval Japanese action title.

Interestingly, the game’s strategic yet flashy approach to combat shows there’s a lot of skill involved in mastering the blade. As such, Tsushima fans may easily imagine just how Jin would fare against other warriors in popular video games. Would Jin and his swordsmanship prevail?

10 Ezio (Assassin’s Creed)

In Ghost of Tsushima, Jin adopts a stealthy approach against the Mongols. He uses fear and underhanded techniques, as well as a couple of gadgets, to gain the upper hand in combat.

Ezio Auditore from Assassin’s Creed could serve as the perfect foil to Jin’s skills as a Ghost, and may get the upper hand as a member of the Assassin Brotherhood. He’s trained to blend into crowds, use various assassination methods, and most importantly, utilize parkour and combat with his Hidden Blade. While Ezio may trump Jin in terms of speed and mobility, Jin’s discipline as a samurai may help him decipher Ezio’s movements.

9 Trevor Belmont (Castlevania)

Aside from Alucard, it’s the Belmonts that posed the greatest threat against Dracula’s schemes in CastlevaniaMoreover, of all the Belmonts, Trevor gained mainstream fame thanks to the Netflix Castlevania adaptation. In the story, Trevor descends from Leon Belmont, the original Belmont vampire slayer. Thanks to his bloodline and his training as a monster hunter, Trevor has the skills to go toe-to-toe against Jin.

Trevor demonstrates mastery not just of hand-to-hand combat, but also of weapons such as swords and the Vampire Killer whip. Moreover, his endurance allows him to take on the damage that ordinary humans can’t. Perhaps Jin’s greatest edge against Trevor is his mastery of different fighting styles that can adjust to Trevor’s adaptable combat prowess.

8 Geralt Of Rivia (The Witcher)

In The Witcher, Geralt serves as a monster-slayer for hire, but he doesn’t just waltz in villages to kill creatures. Rather, witchers receive rigorous training and conditioning to be able to fight all kinds of monsters. As such, Geralt not only becomes a master of various weapons and gadgets, but he also receives a degree of magic training as well as various mental and physical changes that help him go toe-to-toe against creatures.

Jin might face a disadvantage against Geralt’s sheer skill and physical prowess. However, if Jin fights Geralt in Tsushima, the former may use his environment to his advantage, especially as the Ghost.

7 Rikimaru (Tenchu)

Rikimaru of Tenchu heads the Azuma Ninja Clan, and is himself a master ninja. As with his status, Rikimaru demonstrates mastery over the blade with kenjutsu and iaijutsu, as well as other shinobi martial arts. As such, Rikimaru can take down foes easily and without being caught. However, Rikimaru won’t retreat from battle with his unconventional Azuma style of swordfighting.

As a master ninja, Jin may not be able to keep up with Rikimaru’s usage of various weapons and techniques. However, the Tenchu series showed that Rikimaru had a hard time controlling his emotions in combat. Jin can exploit this weakness, as his discipline with his sword fighting may prove capable of anticipating Rikimaru’s movements and stop his attacks.

6 Emily Kaldwin (Dishonored 2)

Emily Kaldwin serves as one of the protagonists of Dishonored 2, where she fights to reclaim her birthright as ruler of the Isles. But just because Emily is a noble doesn’t mean she can’t fight. In fact, Emily proves to be an extremely efficient field operative thanks to her training as a marksman and sword fighter. Moreover, her Outsider’s Mark ability enables her to transform into the very shadows herself, which becomes useful in her missions.

Her supernatural abilities might prove to foil Jin’s approach in battle. However, the right evasive maneuvers and counter-attacks from Jin’s Ghost and Evasion trees may be able to counter Emily’s assault.

5 The Prince (Prince of Persia)

The Prince in Ubisoft‘s Prince of Persia: Sands of Time trilogy is perhaps the most popular iteration of the titular protagonist in the entire franchise. Despite his nobility, The Prince boasts great sword-fighting skills. Moreover, his impressive athletic ability allows him to flawlessly traverse complicated terrains with freerunning and parkour. Moreover, his mastery over the Sands of Time allows him to time travel, which aided him in his quest to reclaim the kingdom.

Jin undoubtedly loses if the Prince uses the Sands of Time in their battle. However, Jin hopefully has enough battle prowess to predict that the Sands have time-altering abilities and use it to his advantage in combat.

4 Kassandra (Assassin’s Creed Odyssey)

Kassandra of Assassin’s Creed Odyssey is equal parts mercenary and assassin. In fact, it’s Kassandra that serves as one of the earliest members of the Assassin Brotherhood. Moreover, her training as a Spartan makes her quite a formidable foe, regardless of circumstance. As such, Jin will have to face Kassandra and her skills in an assortment of weapons. Moreover, she deftly uses the Spear of Leonidas for assassinations, posing quite a threat to Jin.

Like Ezio, Kassandra possesses skills in freerunning, which makes her an agile foe for Jin. However, Jin may be able to use his various evasive stances to catch Kassandra on the run and gain the upper hand.

3 Talion/Celebrimbor (Shadow Of Mordor)

Talion and Celebrimbor in Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor and Shadow of War show how an army of Orcs don’t stand a chance against a Ranger out for vengeance. In the story, the Elven Lord Celebrimbor bonded with Talion’s deceased body to allow him to exact vengeance on Sauron’s army as a Wraith. As such, Talion possesses both his Ranger skills and Celebrimbor’s Wraith abilities in his war against the Orcs.

Unlike Jin, Talion possesses supernatural abilities such as teleportation, resurrection, and seeing through walls. As such, fighting Talion might become extremely difficult, though Jin may be able to best Talion in melee combat, especially with his stances.

2 William (Nioh)

William in Nioh hails from England, and the Irish-born sailor eventually became a pirate due to his skill and strength. He eventually meets his Guardian Spirit Saoirse in his journey, who the alchemist Edward Kelley will steal before the game’s events. Unfortunately, William will have to adapt in order to survive a Feudal Japan plagued with various monsters and supernatural creatures.

William will need to master a variety of weapons to exterminate various creatures. Moreover, he can use Onmyo Magic Skills to evoke mystical forces to his aid. It’s William’s mastery of magic and weaponry that might prove disadvantageous to Jin, but Jin may turn the tide should he start relying on his Ghost skills to distract William in combat.

1 Garrett (Thief)

Garrett of the Thief franchise isn’t a stereotypical fighter, getting dragged into a huge conspiracy at the center of the Thief games. However, his disdain for combat doesn’t mean he can’t protect himself. His involvement with The Dark Project left him without an eye, with a mechanical one now in its place As such, Garrett uses various weapons, arrows, mines, and even greater perception thanks to his new eye.

Garrett’s greatest asset against Jin would be his mastery of stealth. As a master thief, Garrett has an uncanny understanding of how the shadows work and how he can use traps in his favor. Jin’s best chance of defeating Garrett is forcing him out into the open for melee combat.
