Fans of Thor can finally unleash the God of Thunder’s wrath on enemies in Marvel’s Avengers. Thankfully, this Square Enix and Crystal Dynamics game presents a unique Marvel story. And Thor showed quite well that a God does not back down from a fight. However, the game also allowed Thor to showcase his powers alongside a unique fashion sense.
Thanks to Marvel’s Avengers, Thor can wear a variety of costumes, armor, and even clothes in their missions. In fact, Thor has sets of Asgardian Armor and civilian clothing players can interchange between missions. As such, Thor always gets the opportunity to exude royalty or extreme chill as he bashes his foes with Mjolnir. However, of all of Thor’s costumes, just which ones are his best?
10 Battle Guard (Rare)
Battle Guard might describe how Thor might appear as both a novice or in a hurry. In this outfit, Thor sports a simple metal winged cap – a motif shared by most of his plate guards. Battle Guard Thor sports simple arm guards and plated boots over jeans. He does retain his signature red cape alongside a simple plate chest armor and chainmail.
Players who want to use Thor without all the regal and royal motif — but not completely civilian — would appreciate this outfit. One might argue Battle Guard Thor adds a much-needed “regular joe” spin to his outfit.
9 Thunder Prince (Epic)
Princes don’t necessarily have to wear regal coats and vests to denote their princely status. Thor’s Thunder Prince outfit unites both sleek and practical in a single look. With this outfit, Thor sports a black sleeveless leather shirt and leather pants woven with criss-cross patches. He also wears braces on both wrists and fur boots that match his right fur shoulder cover. Instead of a cape, Thor sports a long scarf that covers the left side of his body.
As a result, players get a Thor that exudes both practicality and sheer ferocity in battle. With this outfit, Thor doesn’t command respect but rather earns it with every smite.
8 Brimstone (Epic)
Brimstone is a step up from the Battle Guard outfit. This time, Thor gets a battle-ready look with a practical yet stylish combat costume. As such, Thor gets a pair of grey jeans that symbolizes the more civilian dimension of this combat outfit. He sports a pair of wrist guards and steel-plated combat boots, alongside a plain winged metal cap. Even his leather vest appears slick, sporting his signature circle plates that serve as his heroic signature.
Unlike other Thor outfits, Brimstone adds that tactical vibe to the God of Thunder. As such, the costume places him close to the level of the styles of Captain America and Black Widow.
7 Ingot (Rare)
Ingot gives Thor’s iconic modern look a sleek and stylish spin, much like his Ultimate Marvel appearance. As such, the outfit removes the red-and-blue color palette of the God of Thunder and replaces it with a black-and-gold outfit that almost borders stealth. Thor still brandishes his cape, albeit now black in color. He has a pair of brown jeans covered nicely with black leather hip guards and combat boots with gold outlines. The same motif follows his arm guards.
Moreover, his vest now sports a dark leather look with dark circle plates. In addition, a nice golden pattern decorates his vest nicely, giving Thor that runway-ready charm.
6 Stark Tech (Epic)
Thanks to Tony Stark, Thor’s outfit gets an awesome robotic feel to it. Fans might think a Stark-touched Thor outfit might transform the God of Thunder into a suit of armor. However, Stark Tech Thor proves this isn’t the case. Instead, Stark Tech Thor sports a gold-and-blue outfit adorned with Iron Man’s signature robotic marks and shapes — proving Thor’s readiness to take down giant bosses and alien invaders.
As such, Stark Tech Thor sports bulkier combat boots and arm guards, complete with armor plates. This motif follows Thor’s vest, now with blue plates that sport gold thin-plate patterns, with his metal circle plates looking more like Iron Man’s Arc Reactor.
5 War Cry (Rare)
War Cry gives Thor a great battle-ready look with an outfit ready to smite enemies to oblivion. Unlike his other stylish outfits, War Cry gives Thor a straightforward fighting look — as reflected by his simple metal winged cap. Moreover, his blue jeans become protected with leather boots with metallic plates. This motif follows his arms, with his chainmail sleeves protected by leather armbands with metal plates.
In addition, his vest becomes hard leather in appearance, with his signature metal circles lining the frontal-sides of the chest that gives Thor an imposing look. Interestingly, even his red cape has a sleek appearance, giving Thor quite the military-like look.
4 King Thor (Legendary)
King Thor serves as a neat evolution of the Thunder Prince outfit. This costume adds a much-needed regal touch to the Thunder Prince outfit. However, unlike usual images of a “king” that pops in everyone’s heads, King Thor gives Thor a nice Norse mythology-inspired take on the outfit. As such, Thor takes off his chainmail sleeves in place of a mail vest adorned with his signature circle plates tied together with chains. He sports a pair of combat-ready metal arm guards and boots.
Moreover, he brandishes a red cape held together by thick fur shoulder pads with thick metal plates closing them together on the front. Thor caps the look with a grandiose winged helmet, giving him an outfit befit his kingly status.
3 Samaritan (Rare)
What happens if the Avengers call on Thor’s help while he’s on vacation? Chances are, Thor will come blasting through opponents on a shirt with jeans — which is exactly what Samaritan shows. Thanks to this outfit, Thor sports a pair of brown tied boots, a pair of jeans, and a purple shirt. It’s as civilian as Thor could get.
However, perhaps more impressive is the subtle inclusion of the word “Volunteer” alongside wings on the back of the shirt. This stylistic choice gives some sort of a minimalist vibe to the outfit, giving players the signature “wings” in Thor’s helmet but this time in civilian clothes. Samaritan will become the perfect fit for Thor players who want a more civilian look to their adventures.
2 Royal Aesirian (Legendary)
As the God of Thunder and Son of Odin, Thor has every right to boast his birthright as Asgard’s true heir. And a Prince needs the right outfit to show his status to both Asgardians and enemies they have to face. With the Royal Aesirian, Thor achieves this look with a battle armor that fits a battle-hardened prince that has been in the Avengers for a long time. Thanks to this outfit, Thor sports his signature blue garb over chainmail alongside his winged helmet and decorative circular chest plates.
However, this outfit takes Thor’s signature concepts up a notch. Royal Aesirian has Thor wear a more regal winged helmet, as well as a blue vest with silver details and Asgardian markings. His chest plates become golden in color, matching his golden chainmail and trademark red cape. Thor enters the battlefield with a golden radiance befitting his status.
1 Asgard’s Might (Epic)
Nothing beats the original. Asgard’s Might showcases Thor in his signature might — the winged cap that exudes mythology, the trademark cape and vest that showcases his regality, and the braces and boots that demonstrate his might. Fans who want to go “retro” would appreciate how Asgard’s Might “translates” Thor’s classic outfit to a more modern iteration.
As such, players entering the battlefield would show a Thor that seems as though he entered Earth straight from the comic books. Moreover, the game’s take on this outfit allows Thor to use this outfit without feeling out of place to the others.
