Joining the game back in late May, fans were shocked to see that Konami had teamed up with the folks over at Behaviour Games to bring Silent Hill to Dead by Daylight. The crossover wasn’t just a small event or skin either, with Pyramid Head joining the game as an intimidating new killer, Silent Hill 3 protagonist Cheryl Mason debuting as a survivor, and the Midwich Elementary School added as a fresh map.
However, It seems the crossover between the iconic video game property and the current multiplayer behemoth still has more to offer, with Behaviour Games recently announcing that another new addition from the Silent Hill universe has just joined the game. Cybil Bennett, one of the key characters from the first Silent Hill, has just been added to Dead by Daylight and can be purchased from the in-game store.
To clarify, Bennett is just a skin for Cheryl Mason, meaning she doesn’t have any unique abilities or perks. That being said, Behaviour Games has fully remodeled the character to fit with the more modern designs present in the game, and it’s pretty cool to see how Bennett looks outside of her outings on the PlayStation 1, PlayStation 2, and Nintendo Wii. According to the official Dead by Daylight website, Benett is part of the “Silent Hill Legends Collection,” and can be bought through in-game currency.
For those not caught up on the Silent Hill lore, Cybil Bennett was a core part of the first game in the series, aiding Harry Mason as he attempted to find his daughter – and fellow Dead by Daylight survivor – Cheryl. Throughout the game, she’s portrayed as a strong-willed character with a skeptical view of Silent Hill and its supernatural occupants. Becoming something of a staple of the series, she was referenced in multiple other entries, while also returning in Silent Hill Shattered Memories, which was a reimagining of the first game.
It’ll be interesting to pit the character up against Pyramid Head in Dead by Daylight alongside a number of other significant villains from horror history. The multiplayer horror experience has been amassing a large variety of the latter, after all, with Freddy Kruger, Michael Myers, Leatherface, and the Demogorgon from Netflix’s Stranger Things all featured. Moving forward, it’ll be interesting to see where Behaviour Games looks to take the series next, with its crossover with Konami indicating that it could look to port over more iconic video game horror villains in the future.
Dead by Daylight is out now for PC, PS4, Switch, and Xbox One, with PS5, Stadia, and Xbox Series X versions also in development.
