Borderlands 3 is getting a jolt of new life due to the game’s next-gen releases and second season pass, and Gearbox is doing all it can to let players know that the popular looter-shooter is not going anywhere. As such, the studio has released a trailer promoting the Season Pass 2 content of Borderlands 3, and it is just as action packed as one may expect.
The first bit of the Season Pass 2 trailer is made up of cinematics and gameplay moments from the main story of Borderlands 3 and its DLC offerings thus far, bringing back the game’s marketing focus of mayhem. While the Mayhem Mode of Borderlands 3 was updated recently, this trailer only uses the mayhem slogan, focusing mainly on the new content within the game’s second season pass.
Shots of new action skills like FL4K’s gravity trap can be seen, as well as brief looks at the full skill trees being added for each of the game’s Vault Hunters. FL4K’s loader bot pet makes a brief appearance within the Season Pass 2 trailer as well, drawing a heart in the air before the trailer transitions to a showcase of more season pass content.
The trailer showcases the Multiverse Final Form skins for Borderlands 3, a pack of cosmetics that will provide every Vault Hunter with a new head and body. The skins feature wildly different looks for each Vault Hunter, pulling the characters from alternate universes and giving them fresh backstories to match the wild designs. It is worth noting that this part of Season Pass 2 will also be granted to owners of the game’s first season pass, regardless of whether they buy-in to the new DLC.
The trailer showcases Borderlands 3’s Arms Race DLC mode as well, highlighting the interesting mixture between a rogue-like and battle royale game that Gearbox has created. Sadly, Salvador and Axton do not make an appearance in the trailer despite confirmation that the two Vault Hunters will return within Arms Race. Set to be the hosts of the gameshow-like action, the mode looks to be some of the most unique content the Borderlands series has ever seen.
The trailer ends with an “And Much More” bit of text, with Gearbox not yet ready to talk about the Director’s Cut DLC. Still, even though the trailer only covers half of Borderlands 3’s Season Pass 2, it does its job of highlighting some of the new content and letting fans know what they can expect if they purchase the expansions.
Borderlands 3 is available now on PC, PS4, Stadia, and Xbox One, with PS5 and Xbox Series X upgrades coming as the consoles’ launch.
