Master Chief Collection Trailer Reveals Halo 4 PC Release Date

Halo Infinite may have been delayed into 2021, but 343 Industries continues to toil on Halo: The Master Chief Collection on PC. 343’s pace of releases has been furious, with Halo: Reach, Halo: ODSTHalo, Halo 2, and Halo 3 all being released on PC over the past year. Now 343 is ready to close out strong with Halo 4. In a newly released trailer, 343 announces the release date for Halo 4 on PC, with the game hitting PC on November 17.

To celebrate the announcement, 343’s put together a brand new cinematic trailer for Halo 4 and the completion of Halo: The Master Chief Collection on PC. The trailer features Master Chief’s armor, which the camera swirls around, as well as some dramatic commentary from Cortana. Funnily enough, the actual release date is never mentioned in the trailer – it’s only mentioned in the video’s description. But regardless of where the release date was revealed, November 17 is still officially confirmed.

The nearness of Halo 4‘s launch is no surprise. 343 has been testing Halo 4 for some time, reporting in late October that it had invited 500,000 different PC gaming enthusiasts to test out the first-person shooter. Compared to previous games in The Master Chief Collection, Halo 4‘s development took some extra time. Testing was unfortunately delayed in mid-October. But once testing started 343’s impressive development pace reestablished itself in time to get Halo 4 out this November.

343 is also planning to add some new advanced graphical settings to the Master Chief Collection on PC in a patch alongside the release of Halo 4. These include some meaningful options for details quality, shadow quality, and effects quality, as well as smaller settings like anisotropic filtering and gamma. The settings will at first apply to all games within The Master Chief Collection, but 343 Industries says it plans to allow game-by-game settings changes further down the line.

The release of Halo 4 will also coincide with the start of 343’s Season 4 for The Master Chief Collection. A Halo 4 Champions Bundle of weapon skins will be released for MCC players, unlockable through the Season 4 progression path. Players will also be able to customize individual armor pieces in Season 4. 343 then promises additional Halo 4 Champions bundle armors and pieces in the future.

With the release of Halo 4 on PC, 343’s work on The Master Chief Collection isn’t complete. It’ll continue to be updated, iterated on, and expanded going forward. But as for full games, this is it. For now, there are no plans to bring Halo 5 to The Master Chief Collection. Maybe that’ll change in time, though. Halo 5 is, of course, available separately for those who want it. And there’s also the big game that Halo fans are looking forward to, with Halo Infinite‘s release still planned for 2021.

Halo: The Master Chief Collection is available now on PC and Xbox One, with Xbox Series X support planned.
