For everyone just diving into this new game, it’s important to know what guns to look for in order to stay alive until the bitter end of the match. Based on the current metagame, here are the guns that seem to be in the hands of winners and help players survive the longest.

Updated December 3rd, 2020 by Hodey Johns: With almost another year of player data and updates under its belt, Call of Duty: Warzone has added and confirmed that other weapons are just as brutal and overpowered as the ones originally listed in this article. Instead of replacing the entires, which are still ridiculously good weapons, it felt wiser to add five entries to encompass all the amazing weapons in this game and bring readers a more complete analysis.

15 MGL-32 Grenade Launcher

While the game has several underrated items that are actually useful, nobody is going to underestimate a legendary weapon unless they’ve got a death wish. And the MGL-32 Grenade Launcher is the very best in the business of granting death wishes.

Able to kill a fully armored enemy in a single hit and a full-health truck in two hits, entire squads can be killed in the blink of an eye. As if it couldn’t get any better, unlike most grenade launchers from other games, this gun has almost no drop off on its rounds.

14 SP-R 208

Lovingly nicknamed the “Darkwood” by the community, this unassuming rifle looks like something of a throwback. But given the win percentage of people who use it, it’s safe to say it’s more than the classic look that sets it apart.

Players desperate to survive will use a variety of guns, but this one might be at the top of the list. It can one-hit kill from up close and far away, depending on how it is customized. Its versatility in the customization process is really what sets it apart, as being able to tailor a gun for the landscape is an unbelievable advantage.

13 RAM-7

The overall win percentage on the M4A1 might be the highest for the overall public, but when people watch the pros play and stream, their choice gun is the RAM-7, which is harder to use until it’s upgraded and customized.

The gun is already a laser when it fires a steady stream, so adding the 50 round magazine to the RAM-7 creates a flow of nearly endless bullets. Combining this tinkering with one of the best loadout perks in the game makes this thing a total demon to go up again.

12 R9-0

Players will be surprised that among the worst weapons in the game, shotguns aren’t on the list. They’re usually in the middle, right in between terrible and great, so gamers mistakenly avoid them in their pursuit of greatness, which means they miss on out this damage hog that is always near the top of the charts.

Like most shotguns, all it takes is two shells to drop any other player, but the R9-0 has a double pump feature that allows for the second shot to be ready almost immediately. It eliminates the need to play the corner game; keep on shooting until they’re all dead.

11 AS VAL

Charging in on shotgun-ready players with a superior indoor position with whatever gun is handy is one of many ways that players make the game harder on themselves. That is, of course, unless they’ve got the AS VAL.

Many players will look at the small clip and mediocre medium-long range and dismiss the weapon entirely, missing the brilliance of this piece of metal. It’s not meant to play like a usual assault rifle, it’s got a better time to kill than shotguns up close, so get in tight and flush out those annoying shotgunners with this thing.

10 AX-50

Sniper rifles are a staple in battle royale style games and Call Of Duty: Warzone is no exception. The AX-50 is proving to be a particularly potent weapon to wield at long range for many players.

Granted, it does require very precise accuracy which makes it tough to wield when firing at a moving target, but for those who have found a comfortable spot to hole up for a bit and want to get a few headshots in before engaging at close range, this is a good gun to have.

9 Origin 12

The hunt for better gear and supplies will often send players indoors where quarters are cramped and they’ll never know what’s waiting for them in the next room. When in these tense situations, a weapon that can blast holes into whoever attempts an ambush is just the ticket.

The Origin 12 is probably one of the best shotguns for this role, it’s a semi-automatic shotgun that allows the user to pump several rounds into foes before they can react. The damage of one shot isn’t all that great, but making every shell count means this really doesn’t matter.

8 Kar98k

Typically, when sniping opponents, players only get a shot or two off before they triangulate the shooter’s location or get to cover, so making those shots count is important. The Kar98k Marksman Rifle delivers a lot of damage in each shot and is a great long-distance weapon.

The reload and fire rate is nothing to write home about, but it takes most opponents out with a single shot. Combining it with one of the game’s most dominating rifle attachments turns this thing unleashes the legendary status that it’s labeled as. If there is only time for one shot, use this weapon to make it count.

7 MK2 Carbine

Those who really need to do some damage with one well-placed shot will find that the MK2 Carbine is the better long-range weapon to use. It deals a lot of damage and has incredible accuracy to make that important shot easier to land.

It can also come with a laser attachment to make lining up shots even easier. Amateur snipers who are a little green with marksman combat will learn that the MK2 Carbine is a great weapon to master.

6 MP7

While a shotgun is handy for close-quarters combat, having an automatic submachine gun like the MP7 is really handy. It has great handling that can be helpful when startled or needing to target the enemy quickly. Best of all, it doesn’t sacrifice accuracy while running through hallways as part of a charge or retreat.

The range of this gun leaves something to be desired starting at mid to long range, but in close quarters it’s great and every bullet will find a mark. It’s a great secondary gun with another mid or long-range gun already equipped.

5 MP5

The MP5 is a step up from the MP7 in a lot of ways. It has a great fire rate, decent damage, and has the advantage of hitting targets at mid-range. This is a great weapon to have on the run thanks to high handling and can serve well indoors and outdoors.

This thing is really dangerous with a suppressor and many players like it for stealth-based combat. Being able to fire off a ton of shots without the enemy figuring out where the bullets are coming from has been key to many victories in the tournaments.

4 M91

Ranking the M91 this high might be surprising for some as it struggles to hold its own against other weapons on this list. What makes the M91 a great weapon is the fact that it’s obtainable early on and it remains useful for a long time.

It’s an LMG that can fire off 100 rounds before needing a reload. This will make whoever grabs it incredibly dangerous in the early game. After players start finding armor, it might be necessary to switch, but after killing so many players, users of this gun have likely snowballed out of control already.

3 PKM

Laying down some cover fire or facing an enemy behind the wheel of a vehicle makes the PKM is a fantastic weapon to spray the area with bullets. This thing carries a ton of ammo even before adding attachments and it is lethal in mid-range.

It’s not the most accurate gun, but with the great fire rate, deadly 7.62mm rounds, and large magazine sizes, nobody minds if a few rounds miss their target. Players won’t need to be all that accurate to take down an ATV when firing this hail storm of bullets.

2 AUG

The AUG has been included on several recommended lists for good reason, this thing is a beast in close range combat and holds its own at midrange. It’s a possible upgrade from the MP5 or MP7 as it has better mobility, better damage, great accuracy, and can actually hit targets in mid.

It struggles in mid to long-range and there are no barrel attachments to improve it. But including it in the loadout is critical for players who want to survive until the end of the game since they’ll be pushed into tighter quarters where this thing really shines brightest.

1 M4A1

Right now fans are convinced that the M4A1 is king in Call of Duty: Warzone. It’s deadly at close to mid-range thanks to being fully automatic and, when fired in bursts, can be very dangerous at mid to long range. It becomes even more ludicrous when joined with one of the game’s best attachments for an assault rifle.

Because of this versatility, it makes a great weapon in the hands of someone trying to survive battle royale and the attachments only make it more powerful. Whether firing on enemies hiding in the trees or gunning down someone in a hallway this weapon will do the job.
