Needless to say, many loved the game. It is considered to be one of 2020’s best surprises. One of the things many loved about the game was the bustling open-world. The game is set in a place called the Golden Isles, and this place itself is filled with incredible details fans of the game will surely appreciate knowing about.

10 Collectibles From Trees

A vast majority of the Golden Isles permeate an incredible plantlife ecosystem. The lush greenery adds to the game’s lively atmosphere and speaks for the game’s desire to look as visually pleasing as possible.

On top of being an eye-candy, the trees in the game can also provide sustenance to the players in the form of collectibles. Players might see fruits hanging from the trees’ branches. These fruits can actually be collected by either jumping up to them and pressing the loot button, or shooting them down using arrows.

9 Areas Of Interest Glow At Night

Aside from playing the game’s main campaign, there are so many more things the players can do in Immortals Fenyx Rising. They can pour hours and hours of gameplay into the game and they’ll still have an abundance of things to discover.

To help the players discover these things a little bit better, areas of interest will glow at night if looked at from a vantage point. Using the game’s “far sight” mechanic will even make these places pop up a little better.

8 Regions Reflect Their Gods

There five main regions in Golden Isles, six if the beginning tutorial area is included. Outside of the tutorial, however, each region in the Golden Isles is dedicated to a certain god or goddess, and the level design of each region speaks for this.

The region for Ares feels like it actually belongs to Ares. Aphrodite’s region is perfectly designed to match her personality and powers, and the same goes for the rest of the game’s areas. Hephaestus’ region is a massive forge land, Athena’s is filled with libraries and monuments, and Zeus’ region is nothing but gigantic and grand.

7 Humming Trees

Aside from bearing fruit that the players can use as collectibles, there are also certain trees in Immortals Fenyx Rising that provide a different kind of item. These trees are distinguishable because, unlike most trees in the game, they make a subtle, jingling hum.

Once the players spot a tree like this, they can then use their sword or axe to cut it down. As a reward, they will earn a Golden Amber, a rare collectible used to upgrade the potions.

6 Creating Solutions

One of the most prominent gameplay mechanics featured in Immortals Fenyx Rising is puzzle solving. These puzzles come in different forms, but one of the most recurring ones are those that require movable objects to compress a massive button or two on the floor.

Often times, the game will provide a massive marble the players can use to press down the buttons. Sometimes, on the other hand, the players will have to make do for themselves. When there are no heavy marbles around, the players can create their own by breaking down bigger blocks or chopping down trees.

5 When Fate Intervenes

During a random moment when fast traveling from anywhere to the Hall of the Gods, Fenyx will instead get transported to a secret area which Hermes calls his secret hideout. He will then claim that Fenyx got transported there because the fates intervened, right after joking about how Fenyx has just made it to the afterlife.

It is yet unknown what the exact prerequisites are for a player to be transported to this hidden place, while many assume it is simply a randomly generated event.

4 Obscure Easter Egg

There is an easter egg located in the Golden Isles that is very obscure, to say the least. The easter egg in question here is a reference to a Japanese web animation called the Knights of the Zodiac.

There is a cave below the area where the players first encounter Phosphor. Inside this cave is a golden box. While this may seem like an ordinary golden box at first glance, panning the camera at just the right angle will allow the players to spot two straps pinned on the back of the box, making it look like a backpack instead. This is a reference to a similar-looking backpack found in the aforementioned web series.

3 Like The Stars

It is without a doubt that the gods are indeed heavenly creatures. They’re majestic, powerful, albeit occasionally petty. Nevertheless, it wouldn’t be far-fetched to liken the gods to heavenly mysteries and their design is a testament to this statement.

The design of the gods in the game glow with a very noticeable sparkle. However, the gods don’t simply sparkle with random patterns, their sparkles emanate constellations.

2 From The Myths

Aside from the various monsters that can be easily encountered in the game while traversing or going through the main questline, there are four incredibly powerful monsters in the game you can meet and fight.

These boss fights are optional, but fighting them will grant the players a generous amount of collectibles needed for upgrades. The four monsters are Medusa, a mythical gorgon, Ozomene the Harpy, the Hekatonchires Kottos, and Polyphemos the Cyclops.

1 The Other Gods

Save from the six Olympian gods you encounter in the game through the main questline, there is another who is considerably more challenging to encounter and save.

First is Nike, the goddess of victory. The players can free Nike by collecting the five different pieces of Nike scattered all throughout the Golden Isles. Apollo also appears in the game, although in physical form, when he possesses Hermes. Hera also makes a minor appearance via a secret side quest.
