Biomutant PC Requirements Revealed | Game Rant

First announced at Gamescom in 2017, Experiment 101’s long-awaited action role-playing title Biomutant will finally arrive on consoles on May 25, 2021. Biomutant will release simultaneously on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC, and the requirements for players to run the game on their desktop computers have been revealed via an updated listing on Steam.

Since the game’s reveal over three years ago, excitement has been building for the RPG, stoked perhaps by Experiment 101’s long silences on Biomutant’s development. Many gamers even feared that the game had quietly been canceled, and postponed release windows did not help matters. Now, with a definite release date for Biomutant announced last month, it’s time to see if player’s PCs can handle the visually stunning open-world of the post-apocalyptic title.

The minimum system requirements to run Biomutant on PC are a 64-bit processor, at least an AMD FX-8350 or Intel Core i5-4690K running at 3.5 GHz or higher. The system will need 8 GB of RAM and at least 4 GB of memory on a Direct3D 11 capable graphics card, namely a GeForce GTX 960 or Radeon R9 380. The game will require 25 GB of available storage space for installation.

The recommended system requirements for Biomutant are, as expected, a bit higher but not by too much. Besides the 64-bit processor and 25 GB of storage space, gamers will need an AMD Ryzen 5 1600 or Intel Core i7-6700K running at 3.2 GHz or higher. The required RAM has doubled to 16 GB, and the graphics card’s onboard memory requirement has jumped to 6 GB, with a Direct 3D 11 capable GeForce GTX 1660Ti or Radeon RX 590.

Biomutant is shaping up to be one of the top game releases of 2021, and anticipation for it is high. Stefan Ljungqvist, the game’s creative director, compared Biomutant to Breath of the Wild and Middle Earth: Shadow of Mordor, giving the open-world RPG some big shoes to fill.

The game puts players in the role of a mammalian warrior, a feline-like fuzzy critter that can be fully customized, with starting options for gender, fur style and colors, body shape, and initial mutation. The standard RPG attributes such as strength, vitality, and charisma will change according to the character’s appearance. For example, giving the protagonist a larger head will result in greater intelligence. As the players progress through the game, they will be able to recode their character’s DNA in order to adjust stats and upgrade them.

There are six different tribes in the world of Biomutant, and players will need to decide which tribe to align with, similar to the Nemesis System mechanic in Middle-earth Shadow of Mordor. However, instead of fighting randomly created enemies, in Biomutant, players earn favor with tribes and can eventually become the tribal leader. Because each tribe kind of represents a DNA strand, the player character’s relationship with these tribes will impact his or her genetic makeup.

As for the Breath of the Wild comparison, the similarity lies in the colorful and vibrant worlds of the two games, although BotW had not been released when development began on Biomutant. Parallels in gameplay between the two titles are also evident. Differences can be seen in the game’s melee combat system, which focuses on using kung-fu inspired techniques, firearms, or a combination of both. Biomutant also features a Karma system that impacts how the story rolls out, opening up certain paths or locking players out of some dialogue choices.

Biomutant will release on PC, PS4, and Xbox One on May 25, 2021.
