Sonic Colors Remastered likely in the works for PS4, Xbox One and Switch

It looks like Sega is potentially remastering the 2010 Wii and DS game, Sonic Colors, to be released on PS4, Xbox One and Switch.

According to the German voiceover studio, iksample, a Sonic Colors Remastered project was in the works in the latter part of 2020 – though the webpage that initially leaked the info has since been taken down (thanks, Gematsu).

As if that wasn’t proof enough that Sega has something Sonic Colors-related going on behind the scenes, we later saw French retailer SoGamely list Sonic Colors Ultimate – Limited Edition for PS4, Xbox One, and Switch. There’s no specific information about when we can expect to see the game launch, just a vague ‘2021’ window for the unannounced title. It does list the price, though:  €35/$42.

The tweet embedded below shows a screen capture of the site before the listing was taken down (thanks, GamesRadar).

There’s no official word from Sega at the time of writing, but the publisher has already announced that there are new Sonic the Hedgehog games coming in 2021. Whether this remaster counts as a ‘new game’ has yet to be seen.

It stands to reason that Sega will want to share various updates on Sonic projects to promote the 30th anniversary of the mascot – as such, over the coming months, we’re expecting more news about the Sonic the Hedgehog 2 movie, the next mainline game in the series, and maybe even a Sonic Mania sequel (if we’re lucky!)
