Midnight Club: Los Angeles surprisingly returns to the Xbox Marketplace

Is Rockstar bringing back Midnight Club?

Midnight Club fans were surprised last night to find that Midnight Club: Los Angeles had been relisted on the Xbox Marketplace with no prior announcement from Rockstar.

The Xbox 360 version of the game’s Complete Edition remains available for purchase as of this writing, priced $15. Thanks to backwards compatibility, this version is also playable on Xbox One, as well as Xbox Series X/S consoles. You won’t find any improvements to framerate (it’s still locked to 30fps) or visuals, but you’ll still be able to satisfy your nostalgia for the classic racing game.

This particularly bizarre release follows last week’s equally bizarre relisting and subsequent delisting of Midnight Club 2 on Steam. It’s possible this is just a coincidence, but fans eager for Rockstar to pay any attention to its back catalogue of classic games are choosing to believe it’s the start of something big.

Midnight Club games were delisted because Rockstar did not renew licensing agreements with publishers of the music used in their soundtracks, at least that’s what we were lead to believe. Midnight Club: Los Angeles is the last game in the series, initially released in 2008 on Xbox 360, PS3 and PSP.

Thanks, Resetera.
