With the release of its new Legends mode,\u00a0Ghost of Tsushima<\/em><\/strong> has gained longevity. Already a well reviewed game, Ghost of Tsushima<\/em><\/a> has re-endeared itself to players twice over with\u00a0Legends<\/em>.<\/p>\n

There’s a lot to do in the base game of\u00a0Ghost of Tsushima<\/a><\/em>, but\u00a0Legends<\/em> adds an entire new dimension to the game. A co-op focused mode,\u00a0Legends<\/em> has players take on one of four roles. These Samurais, Ronins, Hunters, and Assassins face hordes of supernatural enemies together. The base modes are already popular and engaging, but beyond these lies Nightmare Mode. It’s not unlocked from the start, so here’s a guide to what it is, how to unlock it, and what players can really expect from it.<\/p>\n

Nightmare Mode is\u00a0Ghost of Tsushima: Legends<\/em>‘ take on the Changing Challenge. This is a popular feature in many open-ended titles or modes where a specific challenge is presented to players. The parameters of the challenge change each specified period and provide rewards if completed within that period. For Nightmare Mode, a new challenge is brought in every week. Since Legends<\/em> was developed parallel to the main game<\/a>, the devs had a lot of time to figure out how to make the game more challenging.<\/p>\n

To actually unlock Nightmare Mode, players must reach 90 Ki. In\u00a0Ghost of Tsushima: Legends<\/em>, Ki is a measure of overall power of players’ gear. Higher quality gear means more Ki, with Legends<\/em>‘ Legendary Gear<\/a> providing some of the best. In this way, players can naturally attempt bigger challenges as they make their characters stronger. Once a player has strong enough gear to hit 90 Ki, they can take on Nightmare Mode whenever they want. However, they may not want to try it out right away.<\/p>\n

Nightmare Mode was not named frivolously. Players who have attempted it have already noted that it is significantly harder than regular\u00a0Legends<\/em> gameplay. On top of the dangers posed by the already strong enemies of Legends<\/em><\/a>, Nightmare Mode imposes dangerous challenge modifiers. These include having both players take damage whenever one is damaged, having all players lose if just one Legend dies, and more.<\/p>\n

Completing Nightmare Mode yields rich rewards, usually an Epic or better gear drop. However, completing it at all requires players to know the game inside and out. They will have to pick their best Legends<\/em> class<\/a> and hone it to perfection, then team up with others who have done the same. But with new challenges every week, odds are it will rarely be a dull mode.<\/p>\n
