This is the most recent\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/tag\/star-wars\/\"><em>Star Wars<\/em><\/a> VR title from developer ILMxLAB, the same team behind the popular\u00a0<em>Vader Immortal<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>The game takes place on the planet of Batuu, on the outskirts of Black Spire Outpost. Yes, the very same one found at Disney World and Disneyland. This\u00a0is\u00a0the closest anyone\u00a0is going to get to Disney-owned property without\u00a0going to Florida for the foreseeable future, as <a href=\"https:\/\/screenrant.com\/disneyland-california-reopening-guidelines-criticism-coronavirus\/\"  rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Disneyland has called California&#8217;s reopening guidelines &#8220;unworkable.&#8221;<\/a><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"related-single\"><strong>RELATED: <a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/dreams-disneyland-haunted-mansion-vr\/\">Disneyland&#8217;s Haunted Mansion Recreated in Dreams VR<\/a><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>The trailer for the Oculus-exclusive title begins by setting up the premise for the new\u00a0<em>Star Wars<\/em> story. The player is a droid technician that is operating near Batuu.\u00a0Suddenly, a group of Guavian Death Gang pirates attack, forcing the player to\u00a0 jettison the cargo the pirates are after, and then launch in an escape pod to the outskirts of Black Spire Outpost. The trailer then transitions to a cantina run by a character named Seezelslak, who proceeds to narrate through the trailer.<\/p>\n<p>From there, a montage of harvesting, gunfights, and droid-repairing ensues. In addition to seeing some familiar droids, the trailer\u00a0showcases the different kinds of\u00a0activities the player will get to do. Lastly, an appearance by Yoda, highlighting lightsaber combat. The trailer concludes with the announcement of its mid-November release date, just a few weeks after the <a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/new-mandalorian-season-2-trailer-more-baby-yoda\/\">premiere of <em>The Mandalorian<\/em> Season 2<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"480\" height=\"270\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/AE9J5Vzneoo?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>The game looks like it should be fun for VR users. A common critique of\u00a0<em>Vader Immortal\u00a0<\/em>was its lack of a strong central narrative, despite a generally positive reception. This is something that\u00a0<em>Tales\u00a0from the Galaxy&#8217;s Edge\u00a0<\/em>appears to improve upon. The\u00a0wide variety of options shown throughout the trailer make it\u00a0seem like players will be given freedom in choosing how to explore that narrative. However, time will tell if the physics and mechanics in the game are up to snuff, or if\u00a0it could end up being silly-looking, like the <a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/star-wars-holidy-special-lego-rose-tico-rey-bb8\/\">upcoming\u00a0<em>Star Wars Lego Holiday Special<\/em><\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Despite the global pandemic causing theme park closures, it&#8217;s a great time to be a Star Wars fan.\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/star-wars-jedi-fallen-order-cal-lightsaber-galaxy-edge\/\"><em>Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order<\/em>&#8216;s Cal Kestis&#8217; lightsaber handle<\/a> is coming to Galaxy&#8217;s Edge, and\u00a0<em>Star Wars Squadrons<\/em><em>\u00a0<\/em>released just a few weeks ago.\u00a0<em>The Mandalorian<\/em> season 2 is fast approaching,\u00a0along with the Lego holiday special.
