The\u00a0Call of Duty: Black Ops<\/strong><\/em> Cold War<\/strong><\/em>\u00a0beta officially ended yesterday. With a final update that unlocked all weapon attachments<\/a>, it was a wild ride for players.<\/p>\n

Players learned a lot from the\u00a0Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War<\/a>\u00a0b<\/em>eta.\u00a0Staunch Call of Duty<\/em> players had a chance to see what the future of the\u00a0Black Ops<\/em> games looked like. Obviously the new game would have to compete with\u00a0Call of Duty<\/em>: Warzone<\/em> for attention.\u00a0So\u00a0giving players from a different title incentive to try it out could help get more players. And that’s exactly what Activision did.<\/p>\n

Not everyone was impressed by what was offered in\u00a0Cold War<\/em>. Several streamers had criticisms about the game<\/a>, citing its tired formula and some issues they had with its game modes. For the average player though, these problems were largely negligible. Cross-game promotion was also brought in to help players get engaged. Anyone who played the beta got a Russel Adler skin for\u00a0Call of Duty Mobile<\/em> that they can now redeem.<\/p>\n

Russel Adler is a new character introduced in\u00a0Cold War<\/em>. He’s a CIA agent who will be important to the game’s story. In\u00a0Call of Duty Mobile<\/em> he gives no special bonuses or powers, he’s simply a player skin. This sort of cross-promotion is not usual for the\u00a0Call of Duty<\/em> series, but it makes sense here. Mobile has made Activision a lot of money<\/a>, so appealing to its players to get involved in\u00a0Black Ops<\/em> could easily wind up selling more copies of the game to\u00a0Mobile<\/em> fans.<\/p>\n

The skin can be redeemed through a code received via email. Players will have to check the email associated with their account for the\u00a0Cold War<\/em> Beta, then use the code and password in\u00a0Mobile<\/em>.\u00a0Odds are few\u00a0Mobile<\/em>\u00a0players got involved just for the skin, but if they did, hopefully the beta’s cheater problem<\/a> didn’t cause them too much grief.<\/p>\n

Only time will tell if\u00a0Black Ops<\/em> stands tall or really shows the age of the\u00a0Call of Duty<\/em>\u00a0formula. Considering some players suspect bot usage in the beta’s matches<\/a>, there’s a chance Activision messed with the data. Whatever the outcome,\u00a0Call of Duty Mobile<\/em> will no doubt still hold a lot of gameplay for its fans. Even if this Beta didn’t directly impact\u00a0Mobile<\/em>‘s gameplay, at least it gave players a sweet new skin.<\/p>\n

Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War<\/strong><\/em> is scheduled for release on November 13th for the PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X\/S.<\/p>\n
