In 2010, PlayDead launched\u00a0Limbo<\/em> to widespread critical acclaim, and so expectations were high for the studio’s follow-up game. Six years later, PlayDead released\u00a0Inside<\/strong><\/em>, which earned even higher review scores and is often hailed as one of the best games of the last decade. And while it may not be strictly labeled or categorized as a “horror” game,\u00a0Inside<\/em><\/a> has a lot to offer for fans of the genre, and fits perfectly in the Halloween season.<\/p>\n

Inside<\/em> is a side-scrolling puzzle platformer<\/a> with a dark art style and even darker story. In\u00a0Inside<\/em>, players take on the role of a nameless boy who appears to live in a police state of some kind. Players have to run from vicious dogs and\u00a0avoid mind-controlling\u00a0parasites that turn animals into vicious zombies. On his journey, the boy stumbles upon some shocking scientific experiments and also interacts with seemingly supernatural creatures.<\/p>\n

Inside<\/em>‘s shocking ending<\/a> really solidifies it as a game horror fans would enjoy, but to go into too much detail would be to ruin it for anyone that has yet to play it. So any horror enthusiasts looking to play something creepy this Halloween should know that\u00a0Inside<\/em> is one of the safest bets there is.<\/p>\n

As previously mentioned,\u00a0Inside<\/em> is an award-winning game<\/a> that earned widespread critical acclaim at the time of its release. It earned significant praise for its story, gameplay, and art style, and even if fans aren’t a huge fan of the puzzle platformer gameplay,\u00a0Inside<\/em> is a short and sweet experience. It only lasts a few hours, but it packs more substance into those few hours than most games accomplish with 20 hour+ playtimes.<\/p>\n

Anyone interested in playing\u00a0Inside<\/em> has numerous ways to do so. While it originally launched as an Xbox One exclusive<\/a>,\u00a0Inside<\/em> has since come to PS4, iOS, PC, and even the Nintendo Switch. So horror fans have numerous options when it comes actually playing the game.<\/p>\n

Those that do play\u00a0Inside<\/em> will likely be anxious to learn more about PlayDead’s next game<\/a>. Unfortunately, PlayDead’s next game has yet to be announced in an official capacity, but it’s clear that the company is working on something new. Since it’s been about four years since\u00a0Inside<\/em>‘s launch, more information on PlayDead’s next game will likely come sooner rather than later, and so fans of the company’s work should definitely keep their eyes peeled for updates.<\/p>\n

Inside<\/strong><\/em> is out now for iOS, PC, PS4, Switch, and Xbox One.<\/p>\n
